The road race crossing the Gargano promontory between Mattinata, Manfredonia, and Monte Sant'Angelo
The Rally Costa del Gargano has become one of the most anticipated motorsport events in Puglia. Established in 2022, it has quickly cemented itself as a benchmark stage of the 8th Zone ACI Sport Rally Cup, drawing crews from across Southern and Central Italy to the winding roads of the Gargano promontory in the province of Foggia. The race is organized by the Gargano Racing Team in partnership with the Tecno Motor Racing Team, with the patronage of the Puglia Region, ACI, the Province of Foggia, and the Gargano National Park Authority.
What makes this rally unique is the landscape it traverses: the special stages wind along scenic roads connecting Manfredonia, Mattinata, and Monte Sant'Angelo, amidst ancient olive groves, limestone cliffs, and glimpses of the gulf. The city of Manfredonia serves as the headquarters, hosting the start, finish, service park, and award ceremonies in Piazza del Popolo. The Mattinata special stage, the longest and most beloved by fans, is the timed heart of the race and attracts thousands of spectators along the route.
Beyond its competitive dimension, the Rally Costa del Gargano has become a true event for territorial promotion: the Puglia Region has included it among its 'Grand Events', and the race is linked to the recognition of the Gargano as a premier outdoor sports destination. High-performance vehicles, from World Rally Cars to Skoda Fabia Rally 2s, offer a spectacle of speed and technique on challenging road surfaces, while the public can watch the stages for free from authorized vantage points.
Edition after edition, the rally has seen an increase in the number of entries and the caliber of participants, featuring both local drivers and established names from the national rally scene. For Mattinata, Manfredonia, and Monte Sant'Angelo, it represents a weekend of great appeal, capable of combining a passion for motors with the discovery of one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in all of Puglia.
The fifth edition of the Rally Costa del Gargano, valid for the 8th Zone ACI Sport Rally Cup, saw 44 crews start between Manfredonia, Mattinata, and Monte Sant'Angelo. The route, totaling about 245 km, included 7 special stages for 69.94 km of timed racing. The trophy was won by local driver Giuseppe Bergantino, paired with Giovanni D'Errico in the New Jolly Motors team's Skoda Fabia, who dominated all seven stages with a total time of 42'18.1. Behind him, the podium was entirely Skoda Fabia, with Emanuele Giannetti and Gianluca Esposito in second place, and Riccardo Di Iuorio with Gino Abatecola in third.
Race direction entrusted to Claudio D'Apote. Organization by the Gargano Racing Team and the Tecno Motor Racing Team.
The special stages cover the roads of the municipalities of Manfredonia, Mattinata, and Monte Sant'Angelo, in the province of Foggia. The start, finish, and service park are located in Manfredonia (Piazza del Popolo and the tourist port area).
Viewing the special stages from authorized vantage points is free. During the races, the affected roads are closed to traffic: please check the closure times published on the official website and by ACI Sport before traveling.
Manfredonia and Mattinata can be reached from the Foggia motorway exit (A14) and via the SS 89 Garganica road. The reference train station is Foggia, which is connected to Manfredonia.
