About Radici

Radici is a biennial music festival promoted by the Aperture sull'Arte Art Gallery in collaboration with the Il Picchio Association and the Municipality of Camino, in the heart of the Monferrato region in the province of Alessandria. It is a journey that weaves together early music, art, and local heritage, with events held across Casale Monferrato, Villanova Monferrato, and the hilltop village of Camino. Through round tables, art exhibitions, and concerts featuring medieval and Gregorian repertoires, Radici rediscovers the musical and cultural roots of the Monferrato land.

A festival that rediscovers the musical roots of Monferrato

Radici is a biennial music festival born from the Aperture sull'Arte art biennial, promoted by the Casale Monferrato Art Gallery in partnership with the Il Picchio Association and the Municipality of Camino. The event spans various locations in the Monferrato area, in the province of Alessandria, blending early music, visual arts, history, and the identity of the Piedmontese territory.

A journey through music, art, and memory

Each edition of the festival develops a thematic thread linking music to the cultural roots of the Monferrato region. The program alternates between round tables, art exhibition openings, and concerts, hosted in evocative settings such as the Aperture sull'Arte gallery in Casale Monferrato, venues in Villanova Monferrato, and the churchyard and parish church of San Lorenzo in Camino.

The 2026 Edition

The 2026 edition kicked off in March with a double event dedicated to the European musician Domenico Mombelli, featuring a salon in Casale Monferrato and the opening of the "Atmosfere" art exhibition with a concert in Villanova Monferrato. The festival continued in May with a second double event dedicated to the theme of musical migrations: on May 22nd, the Aperture sull'Arte gallery hosted the "Pilgrims, Troubadours, Migrants" salon on the history of medieval Monferrato music, while on May 23rd, the panoramic churchyard of the San Lorenzo church in Camino hosted the "Cammini" concert by the Sant'Emiliano Gregorian Choir, featuring a medieval repertoire and pieces linked to local devotion, enriched by organ improvisation by Mattia Rossi.

Camino, a village in Monferrato

The heart of the festival is the Municipality of Camino, a small hilltop village in the Monferrato area in the province of Alessandria, in the Piedmont region. The parish church of San Lorenzo, with its panoramic churchyard overlooking the green hills, offers an intimate and evocative setting for early music, where Gregorian chant dialogues with the landscape and the history of the territory.

  • Round tables and cultural salons on music and local history

Radici — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Radici festival was divided into two double events between Casale Monferrato, Villanova Monferrato, and Camino, from March to May. From the salon and concert dedicated to Domenico Mombelli, the program moved to the theme of musical migrations, culminating on May 23rd in the "Cammini" concert by the Sant'Emiliano Gregorian Choir on the churchyard of San Lorenzo in Camino.

The 2026 edition of the Radici festival, promoted by the Aperture sull'Arte Gallery with the Il Picchio Association and the Municipality of Camino, took place from March to May in several stages across the Monferrato region.

The first double event, at the end of March, was dedicated to the European musician Domenico Mombelli: a salon in Casale Monferrato (March 26) and the inauguration of the "Atmosfere" exhibition with a concert in Villanova Monferrato (March 28).

The second, in May, addressed the theme of musical migrations: on May 22nd, the "Pilgrims, Troubadours, Migrants" salon at the Aperture sull'Arte gallery, with Mattia Rossi, Carlo Rosso, and Silvia Mazzucco, moderated by Pier Carlo Guglielmero; on May 23rd, at 5:30 PM, the "Cammini" concert by the Sant'Emiliano Gregorian Choir on the churchyard of San Lorenzo in Camino, with readings from Provençal troubadours and organ improvisation by Mattia Rossi.
