Fossano's historic palaces open their courtyards and halls for a day of guided tours, costumed characters, and local tradition.
Racconti di Corti – Fossano Stories is an event that, for one day only, throws open the doors of the historic palaces of Fossano, a prominent city in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Internal courtyards, frescoed halls, and noble residences that are typically off-limits to the public become the centerpieces of a walking tour through the heart of the historic center, designed to tell the city's story through its stones and families.
The route winds through some of the city's most evocative spots, each linked to one of the seven historic districts of Fossano:
Visitors aren't accompanied by just any guides: volunteer docents and characters in traditional costumes, representing the city's seven districts, share stories, anecdotes, and curiosities about the residences. It is a way to bring the courtyards back to life and rediscover the identity of a city with a deep historical vocation, dominated by the famous Castello degli Acaja.
The initiative is more than just a tour; it is a true community celebration. Throughout the day, there are musical interludes curated by the Fondazione Fossano Musica and the Orchestra Bartolomeo Bruni of Cuneo. The grand finale features a performance by the Sbandieratori e Musici Principi d'Acaia in Piazza Castello, followed by an aperitif to toast the day in a convivial atmosphere.
Racconti di Corti was created as an initiative dedicated to narrating and showcasing the city's spaces, promoted by the Municipality of Fossano in collaboration with the Fondazione Fossano Musica, the Orchestra Bartolomeo Bruni, the ATL del Cuneese, and supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano. It is a young yet already beloved event that offers a fresh perspective on the architectural and human heritage of this corner of Piedmont.
For its second edition, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Racconti di Corti once again transformed Fossano into a journey through history and tradition. Seven of the city's historic palaces and courtyards opened their doors: Palazzo Costaforte, Palazzo Burgos, the Palazzo della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio, Palazzo Daviso, Hostello Sacco, Palazzo Santa Giulia, and the Cortile della SOMS. Visitors were led by volunteer guides and costumed characters from the seven city districts. The day of culture and celebration concluded with a performance by the Sbandieratori e Musici Principi d'Acaia, followed by an aperitif in Piazza Castello.
