About Racconti di Corti

For one day, the historic center of Fossano in the Cuneo area transforms into a journey of beauty and memory. Racconti di Corti – Fossano Stories opens the doors of the city's noble palaces—usually closed to the public—to visitors, guided by volunteers and costumed characters from the seven historic districts. Enjoy a free stroll through Fossano's history, architecture, and anecdotes, concluding with a grand finale featuring flag-wavers and an aperitif in Piazza Castello.

A day among the hidden palaces of Fossano

Racconti di Corti – Fossano Stories is an event that, for one day only, throws open the doors of the historic palaces of Fossano, a prominent city in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Internal courtyards, frescoed halls, and noble residences that are typically off-limits to the public become the centerpieces of a walking tour through the heart of the historic center, designed to tell the city's story through its stones and families.

Seven palaces, seven districts

The route winds through some of the city's most evocative spots, each linked to one of the seven historic districts of Fossano:

  • Palazzo Costaforte (Borgo Romanisio)
  • Palazzo Burgos (Borgo Nuovo)
  • Palazzo della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano (Borgo Piazza)
  • Palazzo Daviso (Borgo Salice)
  • Hostello Sacco (Borgo San Bernardo)
  • Palazzo Santa Giulia (Borgo Vecchio)
  • Cortile della SOMS (Borgo Sant'Antonio)

Guides and costumed characters

Visitors aren't accompanied by just any guides: volunteer docents and characters in traditional costumes, representing the city's seven districts, share stories, anecdotes, and curiosities about the residences. It is a way to bring the courtyards back to life and rediscover the identity of a city with a deep historical vocation, dominated by the famous Castello degli Acaja.

Music, flag-wavers, and a final celebration

The initiative is more than just a tour; it is a true community celebration. Throughout the day, there are musical interludes curated by the Fondazione Fossano Musica and the Orchestra Bartolomeo Bruni of Cuneo. The grand finale features a performance by the Sbandieratori e Musici Principi d'Acaia in Piazza Castello, followed by an aperitif to toast the day in a convivial atmosphere.

A project for regional promotion

Racconti di Corti was created as an initiative dedicated to narrating and showcasing the city's spaces, promoted by the Municipality of Fossano in collaboration with the Fondazione Fossano Musica, the Orchestra Bartolomeo Bruni, the ATL del Cuneese, and supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano. It is a young yet already beloved event that offers a fresh perspective on the architectural and human heritage of this corner of Piedmont.
