The festival of chestnuts and walnuts
The Chestnut and Walnut Exhibition is the autumn event of Lugo di Vicenza, a municipality in the Alto Vicentino area of the province of Vicenza. It is held in via Mortisa, in the hamlet that gives its name to the town's symbol product: the chestnuts of Mortisa, recognized as a De.Co. product.
A tradition since 1975
The event was established in 1975 to institutionalize the harvest festival and is traditionally held on the third Sunday of October. Today, it involves about 80 growers and a production of approximately 300 quintals of chestnuts, harvested from the historic trees registered in the area. Alongside the chestnuts, there are the prized walnuts of Lugo, also part of the municipality's De.Co. heritage.
Competitions and flavors
The heart of the exhibition are the Maron de Oro and Nosa de Oro competitions (with their respective silver awards), which recognize the best fruits submitted by producers. There are also roasted chestnuts, typical products, and stands showcasing the local peasant culture. The organization is managed by the Pro Loco of Lugo di Vicenza.

The 2026 edition of the Chestnut and Walnut Exhibition is expected in Lugo di Vicenza in October 2026, following the tradition of holding it on the third Sunday of the month (scheduled for October 18), in via Mortisa.
