The August festival on the Colle dei Sospiri
"Pro Loco in Festa – Hill of Flavors" is the summer event organized annually by the Pro Loco Scerni APS on the Colle dei Sospiri, the panoramic viewpoint overlooking the hinterland of Scerni, a municipality in the province of Chieti in the Adriatic Abruzzo region, just a few kilometers from the Costa dei Trabocchi and the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve. For several evenings in early August, the hill transforms into a large open-air festival space, where music, traditional cuisine, and village conviviality intertwine.
Abruzzese taste and live music
The heart of the event is the combination of local food and wine and entertainment. Every evening, the grill is fired up, serving ventricina, the queen of Vasto cured meats, arrosticini, porchetta, ravioli, amatriciana, and sausage sandwiches, all accompanied by cold beer. The stage hosts a rotation of popular singers, bands, comedy shows, and DJ sets, with revival nights dedicated to the great hits that keep everyone dancing until late at night.
A community celebration
More than just a simple food festival, "Pro Loco in Festa" is a defining moment for Scerni: it is born from the work of Pro Loco volunteers and involves the entire village community, attracting visitors from the neighboring towns of the Alto Vastese and the Val di Sinello. The Colle dei Sospiri, a symbolic landmark of the town, thus becomes the stage for a popular tradition that unites flavors, music, and social life in the heart of the Abruzzese summer.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event is part of the Estate Scernese calendar, traditionally concentrated between late June and August.

How to get there
Scerni is located in the Vasto hinterland, a short distance from the A14 Vasto Sud motorway exit and the SS16 Adriatica road. Traveling by car is the most convenient option; parking is available near the center.
Admission and dining
Free admission. Food stands and a grill are open every evening with Abruzzese specialties; beer and drinks are available until late at night.
