Authentic flavors and live music in the alleys of the village of Fresagrandinaria

Borgustando is the flagship event of Fresagrandinaria, a small town in the Vasto hinterland in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Originally conceived as a summer festival to showcase the region through food, music, and traditions, the event has achieved significant success over the years, leading to two seasonal editions: one in August and one in late December. The formula remains the same: a culinary journey through the village alleys, where every corner of the historic center becomes a stop to taste Abruzzese cuisine and enjoy folk songs, dances, and music.
The winter version of Borgustando brings this atmosphere into the holiday season. The historic center of Fresagrandinaria dresses up for the occasion, welcoming residents and visitors for a day entirely dedicated to traditional flavors and live music. Strolling through the alleys, you can taste local specialties such as scrippelle, pallotte cacio e uova (cheese and egg balls), liver, cif e ciaf, legume soup, sausage sandwiches, and polenta, along with many other dishes that tell the story of the Vasto region's rural culture.
The winter edition intertwines gastronomy and folk culture: festivals of traditional songs, dances, and music fill the narrow streets, while groups and artists perform throughout the day to animate squares and cellars. In recent years, the event has also been enriched with cultural insights related to the 'roots tourism' project, with meetings dedicated to the history of Fresagrandinaria's emigrationโa deeply felt theme in a village from which many departed for abroad after the Second World War.
Borgustando is organized by the Pro Loco of Fresagrandinaria, in collaboration with the 'Borghi Ospitali' network and with the support of the Municipality. The event represents one of the most vibrant and well-attended moments for the community and is part of the tourism development strategy for this small Abruzzese village, nestled in the hills of the hinterland a short distance from the Trabocchi Coast. An opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Abruzzo, amidst good food, hospitality, and traditions.
The 2026 winter edition of Borgustando in Fresagrandinaria is expected, as per tradition, during the holiday season in late December. As of now, the Pro Loco has not yet released the official dates or the program for the event. Maintaining the formula of past years, the event will enliven the alleys of the historic center with traditional Abruzzese dishes, live music, and moments dedicated to folk culture. For updates on dates, times, and the lineup, please refer to the official channels of the Pro Loco of Fresagrandinaria.
