The traditional spring market in the heart of Fiera di Primiero

The Spring Fair is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Fiera di Primiero, the main village of the Primiero San Martino di Castrozza municipality in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Following an ancient custom, the fair is held on the second Monday after Easter: on this day, the historic center transforms into a large open-air market, with dozens of stalls and vendors filling the village streets and squares from morning until late afternoon.
It is no coincidence that the village is named Fiera (Fair) di Primiero. The settlement emerged in the 15th century when the Bergknappen—Tyrolean miners who arrived from Tyrol, Bohemia, and Carinthia to work in the valley's silver mines—built the new town precisely where mineral trade and markets took place, at the confluence of the Canali stream and the Cismon river. The spring Monday fair is the direct heir to those markets: a thread connecting the present to the mining history of Primiero, which is also commemorated in summer with the Bergknappen Primör event around the Palazzo delle Miniere.
The Spring Fair is a highly popular traveling market: you will find stalls of all kinds, ranging from clothing and household goods to artisanal products and gastronomic specialties. It is the perfect opportunity for a stroll through the historic center, browsing the vendors' stalls and soaking up the festive atmosphere that accompanies the arrival of the warmer season among the Pale di San Martino.
The fair is often part of a broader spring program offered by the San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero and Vanoi Tourist Board, featuring carriage rides, live music, and family entertainment in the days surrounding the market.
The Spring Fair is a fixed appointment in the Fiera di Primiero calendar and, by tradition, takes place on the second Monday after Easter in the village's historic center.
At the moment, the official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated by the San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero and Vanoi Tourist Board. As every year, the event will feature a large market with stalls of all kinds along the village streets, often accompanied by spring entertainment in the surrounding days. The detailed program will be published in the weeks leading up to the event.
