About Siror Market

In the heart of the Primiero Valley, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, the Siror Christmas Market is celebrated as the oldest Christkindlmarkt in Trentino. Every Advent, the historic village center transforms into a charming village of wooden huts, with ancient barns and stables converted into artisan workshops, all set against a backdrop of soft lights, nativity scenes, decorations, and local flavors. Highlights include the Arolla pine wood carving symposium, Santa's House, traditional horse-drawn troika rides, and the 'My Christmas Tree' exhibition and competition.

The oldest Christmas market in Trentino

The Siror Christmas Market is one of the most deeply rooted and beloved Christmas traditions in Trentino-Alto Adige. Hosted in the small village of Siror, part of the municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza (Province of Trento), it is recognized as the oldest Christkindlmarkt in the region. Throughout the Sundays and holidays of Advent, the historic center dresses up for the occasion, becoming an enchanted path of lights, colors, and scents that attracts visitors from across the Primiero Valley and beyond.

A village that becomes a Christmas wonderland

What makes this market unique is its setting: it is not just a market set up in a square, but an entire mountain village that opens its doors to Christmas. The wooden huts, along with the village's ancient barns and stables, are transformed into artisan workshops showcasing decorations, nativity scenes, woodwork, and handcrafted creations. The carefully curated lighting of the historic center and traditional decorations recreate the atmosphere typical of the Austrian and Tyrolean Christkindlmärkte, all at the foot of the imposing Pale di San Martino.

Traditional local flavors

The market is also an opportunity to discover the flavors of Primiero. Gastronomic specialties include the brazedel di Siror, a traditional local pastry, Trentino zelten, cured meats, honey, and hot fritters, all accompanied by classic winter beverages.

Attractions and entertainment

  • "Arte Natale" Wood Carving Symposium: Sculptors carve Arolla pine panels live, following an annual theme.
  • Santa's House: Open during market days, featuring Santa Claus arriving directly from Lapland.
  • Troika: Rides on the traditional horse-drawn sleigh.
  • "My Christmas Tree" exhibition and competition: A display of decorated trees created by the community.
  • Roaming music, choirs, bagpipers, juggling shows, and children's entertainment.

A community event

Organized with the support of the ApT San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero and Vanoi tourism board and the local community, the Siror Christmas Market combines the hospitality of a small alpine village with the richness of Trentino's Christmas traditions. It is an ideal destination for those seeking an authentic Christmas experience, away from the crowds of large city markets, immersed in the Dolomite landscape of the Primiero Valley.
