About San Matteo Fair

In the historic center of Feltre, the Ancient San Matteo Fair celebrates the agriculture and rural crafts of the Feltrino area and the entire province of Belluno. Between Via Roma and Via Campo Giorgio, stalls from Belluno farmers offer typical local products โ€” from the Feltrino Walnut to the Feltrino Chestnut, from beans to alpine honeys โ€” accompanied by entertainment, music, theater, and street art. A fair with ancient roots, brought back to life by the Municipality of Feltre.

A fair with ancient roots

The Ancient San Matteo Fair has its origins in historical times and, since 2003, has been revived by the Municipality of Feltre as a large exhibition market for agricultural and agri-food products. It takes place in the charming historic center of the city, along the axis between Via Roma and Via Campo Giorgio, in the province of Belluno.

Flavors of the Feltrino

The absolute protagonists are the typical local products: the Feltrino Walnut, the Feltrino Chestnut, beans, potatoes, pumpkins, alpine cheeses, and dairy products from cooperative dairies, honeys from the Venetian Alps. Stalls from Belluno farmers liven up the streets, offering the opportunity to discover and purchase directly from producers.

Culture and entertainment

Alongside the market, the fair offers a rich program of cultural entertainment: theater and street performances, music, street art, and workshops. In recent years, the event has included conferences dedicated to beekeeping and alpine honeys, with tastings and competitions, and guided tours of the city's cultural spaces, from the Carlo Rizzarda Modern Art Gallery to the de la Sena Theater.

Peasant tradition and Feltrino identity

Organized by the Municipality of Feltre in collaboration with local associations, the Ancient San Matteo Fair is an event that celebrates the rural identity of the Feltrino area and the entire province of Belluno, promoting mountain agriculture and its excellent products.
