The classical and chamber music festival in Bibbona, featuring theatre performances, historic churches, and local young talent.
Primavera & Musica is the longest-running concert series in the Municipality of Bibbona, a charming hilltop village on the Etruscan Coast in the province of Livorno, Tuscany. Established in the early 1980s, the festival reached its 43rd edition (XLIII) in 2026, cementing its status as a staple of the local spring cultural calendar. The initiative is organized by the Bibbona Municipal Administration, through the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Pro Loco, the Bibbona Musical Artistic Laboratory (LAMB), and the Daleth Concerti association.
The festival's core theme is high-quality classical music in all its forms: from symphonic and chamber repertoires to opera, as well as crossovers with jazz and singer-songwriter styles. Each edition brings together established performers and young musicians, with a special focus on training and showcasing local talent. Concerts take place in evocative settings, alternating between the Teatro La Palestra and historic town churches, such as the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà .
The 2026 program kicked off on Saturday, March 14th, with the show "Tra Aria e Anima – Sfumature al femminile" (Between Air and Soul – Feminine Shades), a journey through opera and contemporary sounds. It continued with an Easter Concert entirely dedicated to the Requiem in D minor K 626 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed in the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà . The festival also included the Bibbona Prize, curated by the Musical Artistic Laboratory, and a cello and piano recital featuring music by Beethoven, Bruch, and Piazzolla, concluding with the grand finale on June 6th dedicated to the area's young musicians.
Attending Primavera & Musica is also the perfect opportunity to explore Bibbona, an ancient medieval village surrounded by hills, vineyards, and pine forests just a few kilometres from the Etruscan Coast. Its historic centre, with the Romanesque parish church of Sant'Ilario and its narrow alleys, provides an ideal setting for a day of culture, food, wine, and nature. The proximity to the renowned beaches of Marina de Bibbona and local wineries makes the experience even more complete.
All concerts in the series offer free admission, subject to availability. This initiative is designed to bring the widest possible audience closer to classical and chamber music in the welcoming, intimate atmosphere typical of small Tuscan villages.
The forty-third edition of the festival offered a varied and high-level program between March and June 2026. All events, organized by the Municipality of Bibbona with Pro Loco, Daleth Concerti, and the Bibbona Musical Artistic Laboratory, were free of charge.
The finale on June 6th, titled "LAMB Gran Finale", was entirely dedicated to the young musicians of the area, featuring the band, flute, classical guitar, and pop singing courses of the LAMB.
Bibbona is located along the Etruscan Coast in the province of Livorno. By car, it can be reached via the SS1 Aurelia (Bibbona exit) or the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway. Concerts are held primarily at the Teatro La Palestra in Bibbona and in the churches of the historic centre, generally in the evening (9:00 PM) or in the afternoon.
