The spring festival at the Oratorio dei Santi Pio e Antonio in Anzio
When the warm season returns to the Tyrrhenian coast, the historic center of Anzio comes alive with Primavera in Festa, an event that draws residents and visitors alike to the grounds of the Oratorio dei Santi Pio e Antonio on Via Giacomo Matteotti, just a stone's throw from Piazza Pia. Established in 2015 and reaching its twelfth edition in 2026, the festival has become a staple of the city's spring calendar in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio.
The heart of the festival is the traditional maritime gastronomy of Anzio, a seaside city with a historic port that remains very active today. The food stalls offer the event's signature dish, mezze maniche allo scoglio, alongside grilled fish, grilled meats, stuffed sandwiches, and local traditional desserts. You can book a table to enjoy these specialties in comfort throughout the event.
Beyond the table, Primavera in Festa offers a range of activities designed for the whole family. An exhibition area is dedicated to seasonal aromatic and floral plants, while live music fills the evenings, inviting guests to stay late. "Eat and dance" is the motto that perfectly captures the convivial and popular spirit of the event, with both indoor and outdoor spaces available to ensure the spring weather doesn't dampen the fun.
Primavera in Festa is more than just a good time; the initiative has a strong charitable mission. All proceeds are donated to support the parish's pastoral activities and the community, in collaboration with the local Caritas. Participating means combining the pleasure of good food with a concrete gesture of solidarity for the local area.
Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea south of Rome, Anzio is a destination full of charm: the birthplace of Emperor Nero, famous for the 1944 Allied landings, and renowned for its beaches, the city boasts a vibrant and welcoming historic center. A spring festival like this is the perfect opportunity to discover Anzio's hospitality and the flavors of its sea, in a community atmosphere that makes the experience truly authentic.
The 12th edition of Primavera in Festa enlivened the historic center of Anzio from Friday, April 24, to Sunday, April 26, 2026. The free-entry event featured specialties of Anzio's maritime gastronomy, with live music providing the soundtrack to the evenings and a space dedicated to seasonal aromatic and floral plants.
