The Lavinio Tellina Festival

The Lavinio Tellina Festival is a young local celebration dedicated to one of the most iconic products of the Roman coast: the tellina, a small bivalve mollusk that lives in the shallow sandy seabed and has defined the maritime cuisine of this stretch of coast for generations. The event takes place in Lavinio Lido di Enea, a seaside district in the municipality of Anzio, in the province of Rome, Lazio, and transforms the central Piazza Lavinia into a large open-air restaurant animated by food stalls and performances.

The tellina, treasure of the coast

The Anzio tellina is a prized and delicate seafood, harvested along the shoreline using traditional techniques. Its sweet meat is the star of one of the most beloved dishes of the Lazio coastal gastronomy: spaghetti alle telline, simple and fragrant, seasoned only with garlic, oil, parsley, and the taste of the sea. The festival was created specifically to promote this tradition and help visitors rediscover the deep bond between Lavinio and its coastline.

The culinary program

The heart of the festival is the food stalls that open in the evening, offering a menu entirely dedicated to the local catch. Alongside the essential spaghetti with telline clams, you can enjoy:

The evenings of the Tellina Festival are accompanied by live music: local bands take turns on the stage in Piazza Lavinia, playing classic rock hits and traditional Italian and international songs, creating a festive atmosphere that engages both young and old until late at night.

A new tradition for Lavinio

The first edition, held in September 2025, exceeded all expectations, drawing several hundred people to the square. The success, a result of the work of the Pro Loco of Lavinio Lido di Enea with the support of local associations and businesses, has laid the foundation for the festival to become a permanent fixture on the end-of-summer calendar for the Anzio coast.

Anzio is one of the most well-known seaside resorts south of Rome, famous for its port, its history linked to the 1944 Allied landing, and a gastronomic tradition based on fresh fish. The district of Lavinio Lido di Enea, with its long sandy beaches, is the ideal setting for a festival that combines taste, maritime culture, and conviviality.
