The harvest festival that closes the Anzio summer in Piazza Pia
The Grape and Wine Fair is one of the events that concludes the long summer season in Anzio, a town on the coast south of Rome, in Lazio. Included in the official calendar of the Municipality of Anzio, the fair is held in the central Piazza Pia, just a few steps from the harbor and the seafront, on one of the last Sundays of September, when the pace of the beach season gives way to the scents and flavors of the harvest.
The absolute stars of the day are freshly harvested grapes and local wine. Along the square, producers and local companies set up their stalls where visitors can admire the bunches, taste the wines, and purchase typical products from the Lazio countryside. The fair is also an opportunity to rediscover the genuine flavors of the farming tradition: from garden produce to preserves, from honey to seasonal sweets.
Grape and wine festivals have their roots in Italian rural culture, when the grape harvest marked a moment of collective celebration at the end of field work. In Anzio, this tradition intertwines with the city's maritime identity, creating an evocative meeting between the countryside and the sea. The event keeps alive a heritage of customs and flavors that belongs to all of Lazio, presented in a convivial way accessible to families and visitors.
The fair is managed by the Pro Loco Città di Anzio, a historic association committed to the promotion of traditions and the territory, in collaboration with the Municipality of Anzio. The event is part of the city's rich summer program, which offers dozens of appointments throughout the season including sports, culture, shows, and popular festivals. Admission to the fair is free, and the atmosphere is that typical of village festivals: colorful stalls, chatting in the alleys, and the pleasure of gathering in the square.
Visiting the Grape and Wine Fair is also an opportunity to discover Anzio, a town rich in history overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Known for its fishing tradition, the Villa of Nero, and the famous 1944 Allied landing, Anzio combines beaches, a harbor, and a historic center in an ideal setting for a late summer trip a short distance from Rome.
The Grape and Wine Fair in Anzio is confirmed for Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Piazza Pia, in the heart of the coastal town. The event, included in the official "Summer 2026 - A Sea of Emotions" program of the Municipality of Anzio, represents one of the final events of the long summer season and is dedicated to the flavors of the harvest and typical products of Lazio.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Città di Anzio. The detailed program, with times, exhibitors, and initiatives in the square, will be announced by the organizers closer to the event on the channels of the Municipality of Anzio and the Pro Loco.
