Christmas in the city of dunes

Every year, between late November and Epiphany, the Municipality of Sabaudia decks its historic center with Christmas in Sabaudia, a rich calendar of events that brings the town in the province of Latina, in the heart of the Circeo National Park, to life. Piazza del Comune, Via Umberto I, the surrounding villages, and the waterfront fill with lights, music, and holiday scents, turning one of the most beloved seaside destinations in Lazio into a family-friendly winter getaway.

The Ice Park in Piazza del Comune

The heart of the event is the Ice Park set up in Piazza del Comune: a genuine ice skating rink open from morning until late evening, where adults and children can rent skates for half-hour, one-hour, or full-day sessions. Instructors are available for those taking their first steps on the ice, while the surrounding area features inflatable games and themed entertainment for the little ones.

Santa's House

Next to the rink, Santa's House is the most anticipated attraction for children: accompanied by elves, visitors walk through the rooms of the North Pole to Santa's bedroom, where they can deliver their wish lists and take a souvenir photo. In recent editions, the house has been hosted in the courtyard of the Town Hall and the foyer of the former Cinema Augustus.

Markets, nativity scenes, and local flavors

Along Via Umberto I, you can stroll through the Christmas market stalls, featuring crafts, holiday sweets, gift ideas, and local Pontine products such as honey from the Circeo National Park. The Park Visitor Center hosts nativity scene exhibitions, while on the night of December 24th, after midnight mass, tradition calls for a toast in the square with hot chocolate and panettone. Completing the gastronomic calendar, the village of Mezzomonte hosts the Wild Boar Festival at the end of December, featuring wild boar specialties, local wines, and craft beers.

Music, theater, and Christmas at the Park

The holiday program includes Christmas concerts in local churches, theater shows, book presentations, and various initiatives throughout the villages. In parallel, the Christmas at the Park series, organized with the Circeo National Park from early December to Epiphany, adds guided walks, cycling tours, workshops for children, and events dedicated to ancient folk traditions.

A tradition that unites community and tourism

Promoted by the municipal administration together with associations, the Pro Loco, and local operators, Christmas in Sabaudia attracts thousands of visitors every winter from the province of Latina and the rest of Lazio, extending the tourist season of a city founded in the 1930s and famous for its rationalist architecture. It is the perfect opportunity to discover Sabaudia off-season, amidst the dunes, Lake Paola, and the Circeo promontory illuminated by festive lights.
