Cisterna Christmas is the grand collection of events that transforms Cisterna di Latina into a sprawling festive village every December. Promoted by the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina in collaboration with local associations, committees, and parishes, the program combines markets, shows, concerts, nativity scenes, and activities for children, spread across the town's squares and historic buildings. It is one of the most cherished Christmas events in the Latina province, in the heart of Lazio, just a few kilometers from the Castelli Romani.

The Immaculate Conception Market

The heart of the local tradition is the Immaculate Conception Market, held on the morning of December 8th in the market area of Via delle Province. From the early hours, stalls offer a variety of goods, fresh produce, and typical Christmas gastronomic specialties, drawing visitors from across the region. During the same period, the town center hosts artisanal and gourmet markets with themed exhibitors and products.

The Nativity Scene at Palazzo Caetani

Among the most beloved attractions is the Palace Nativity Scene, set up in the evocative caves of Palazzo Caetani, a historic residence that serves as a symbol of the city. Curated by the Nativity Scene Promotion Group, the exhibition reached its 39th edition in 2025, confirming its status as one of the longest-running nativity traditions in lower Lazio. Admission is free, and the visit is often enriched by a competition exhibition of nativity scenes.

Christmas Land - The Kingdom of Christmas

For the little ones, the main attraction is Christmas Land - The Kingdom of Christmas, the themed Christmas village set up on Via Cairoli: a path filled with large light installations, performance areas, mascots and roaming characters, Santa's house with a toy factory, and a food area managed by elf-chefs. It has become a magnet for families from all over the area south of Rome.

Lights, Music, and Family Events

The Cisterna Christmas calendar is completed by the tree lighting in Piazza Saffi, gospel and Christmas music concerts in local churches, animated readings and creative workshops for children, the arrival of Santa Claus, and, to close the festivities, the Befana celebration in Piazza XIX Marzo. The initiatives continue from the Immaculate Conception until Epiphany, enlivening Corso della Repubblica and the main spaces in the center.
