About Premio Combat

The Premio Combat Prize is one of Italy's most significant contemporary art competitions. Every summer, the Museo della Città in Livorno hosts an exhibition featuring eighty finalists, selected from hundreds of applicants across five categories: painting, sculpture and installation, photography, graphics and drawing, and video and performance. It is an unmissable event for discovering emerging talents on the national and international art scene, with a prize fund that rewards research and experimentation.

Premio Combat, a showcase for contemporary art in Livorno

Established in 2009 and organized by the Blob Art association with the support of the Municipality of Livorno, the Premio Combat Prize is now one of the most followed contemporary art competitions in Italy. Each year, it attracts artists from across the country and abroad, transforming the coastal city into a landmark for cutting-edge artistic research. The heart of the event is the major exhibition of finalists, set up in the spaces of the Museo della Città di Livorno, in the heart of the Venezia district.

Five categories to explore today's art

The prize is divided into five sections that embrace the diverse languages of contemporary creation:

  • Painting
  • Sculpture and Installation
  • Photography
  • Graphics and Drawing
  • Video and Performance

A jury of critics, curators, and museum directors selects eighty finalists, whose works are exhibited to the public for about a month. At the end of the exhibition, the winners are announced, alongside numerous special awards granted by galleries, foundations, and independent spaces that select artists directly for future exhibitions and collaborations.

A prestigious recognition

The main prize is 10,000 euros, accompanied by category awards for each of the five sections and a rich series of special prizes: from the Poliart Prize, dedicated to the production of a sculptural or installation work, to the THE PLACE Prize, linked to the creation of an intaglio print. This system of recognition makes the Combat Prize not just an exhibition, but a true launchpad for emerging artists.

Livorno, city of art

The event takes place in Livorno, in the heart of Tuscany, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. As the city of Amedeo Modigliani and the Macchiaioli painters, Livorno confirms its artistic vocation with the Premio Combat, intertwining the festival with other major summer city events such as Effetto Venezia and the Livorno Art Book Fair. Visiting the finalists' exhibition means immersing yourself in the latest trends of contemporary art, within a lively and charming urban context.

Premio Combat — edition 2026

The 17th edition of the Premio Combat Prize brings the exhibition of the eighty finalists to Livorno, hosted at the Museo della Città from July 4 to August 2, 2026. Five sections, a 10,000 euro prize for the overall winner, and numerous special awards assigned by galleries and foundations.
