The international contemporary art prize in Livorno
Established in 2009 and organized by the Blob Art association with the support of the Municipality of Livorno, the Premio Combat Prize is now one of the most followed contemporary art competitions in Italy. Each year, it attracts artists from across the country and abroad, transforming the coastal city into a landmark for cutting-edge artistic research. The heart of the event is the major exhibition of finalists, set up in the spaces of the Museo della Città di Livorno, in the heart of the Venezia district.
The prize is divided into five sections that embrace the diverse languages of contemporary creation:
A jury of critics, curators, and museum directors selects eighty finalists, whose works are exhibited to the public for about a month. At the end of the exhibition, the winners are announced, alongside numerous special awards granted by galleries, foundations, and independent spaces that select artists directly for future exhibitions and collaborations.
The main prize is 10,000 euros, accompanied by category awards for each of the five sections and a rich series of special prizes: from the Poliart Prize, dedicated to the production of a sculptural or installation work, to the THE PLACE Prize, linked to the creation of an intaglio print. This system of recognition makes the Combat Prize not just an exhibition, but a true launchpad for emerging artists.
The event takes place in Livorno, in the heart of Tuscany, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. As the city of Amedeo Modigliani and the Macchiaioli painters, Livorno confirms its artistic vocation with the Premio Combat, intertwining the festival with other major summer city events such as Effetto Venezia and the Livorno Art Book Fair. Visiting the finalists' exhibition means immersing yourself in the latest trends of contemporary art, within a lively and charming urban context.
The 17th edition of the Premio Combat Prize is held at the Museo della Città di Livorno from July 4 to August 2, 2026. The exhibition gathers the works of the eighty finalists selected in the five sections of the competition: painting, sculpture and installation, photography, graphics and drawing, and video and performance. The awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in conjunction with the historic city event Effetto Venezia and the Livorno Art Book Fair.
From July 4 to August 2, 2026, the Museo della Città di Livorno hosts the works of the eighty finalists of the 17th edition, divided into the five sections of the prize:
