In the heart of Turin, in Piazza della Repubblica, lies Porta Palazzo: the largest open-air market in Europe and one of the most vibrant, multicultural spots in the Piedmontese capital. It is here that the City of Turin launched the Porta Palazzo Festival, an event that weaves together food, music, and art to highlight the history, traditions, and multifaceted soul of this neighborhood, a true beacon of integration.
Three days telling the story of a neighborhood
For three days, the market transforms into a grand open-air stage. The festival was created to celebrate a space recently revitalized through significant PNRR funding, aiming to return to the people of Turin and its visitors a space that serves as a commercial hub, a crossroads of communities, and a major city attraction.
- Gastronomy: The Community Dinner featuring a multi-ethnic menu, held under the historic Tettoia dei Contadini.
- Music: Aperitifs and DJ sets curated by the Kappa FuturFestival, bringing contemporary sounds into the market.
- Art and culture: An encounter with Michelangelo Pistoletto and the screening of a documentary filmed right here in Porta Palazzo.
A crossroads of cultures
Porta Palazzo has always been a meeting point for diverse peoples and traditions: among its stalls, historic Turin shops coexist with new communities from all over the world. The festival places this coexistence at its core, choosing the theme of “loving differences” as its guiding thread. Porta Palazzo Festival — edition 2026
La prima edizione del Festival di Porta Palazzo ha animato il mercato di Torino per tre giorni, dal 10 al 12 giugno 2026, con un programma che ha unito gastronomia, musica e arte contemporanea. L'evento ha celebrato il quartiere e la sua anima multiculturale, valorizzando un luogo simbolo della città recentemente riqualificato grazie a un investimento del PNRR.
Programme Porta Palazzo Festival 2026
Mercoledì 10 giugno
- 20:30 — Tettoia dei Contadini, Piazza della Repubblica: Cena delle Comunità di Porta Palazzo, con un menu multietnico curato da CuochiVolanti e dallo Chef Kumalé, pensato per favorire il dialogo e la convivialità tra le realtà del quartiere.
Giovedì 11 giugno
- 19:30-22:30 — Tettoia dei Contadini: aperitivo accompagnato dal DJ Set Resident del Kappa FuturFestival, che ha portato sonorità e atmosfere contemporanee nel cuore del mercato.
Venerdì 12 giugno
- 18:00 — Antica Tettoia dell'Orologio: presentazione dell'opera Amare le differenze del Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto, in dialogo con Luisa Papotti (presidente del Museo del Risorgimento), Davide Quadrio (direttore del Museo d'Arte Orientale), Gabriele Proglio (docente dell'Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo) e Paolo Manera (direttore della Film Commission Torino Piemonte). A seguire, un cocktail di benvenuto per celebrare i 110 anni della Tettoia dell'Orologio.
- 20:30: proiezione del film Il luogo delle fragole, introdotta dalla regista Maite Vitoria Daneris. Il docufilm, girato interamente a Porta Palazzo, racconta la vita quotidiana di Lina, anziana contadina di San Mauro Torinese con un banco al mercato, e quella del giovane Hassan.

How to get there
The festival takes place in Piazza della Repubblica, in the Porta Palazzo district, just a few minutes from the center of Turin. The area is well-served by GTT public transport (trams and buses) and is within walking distance of Porta Palazzo. If arriving by car, the area is near the historic center: we recommend using public transport due to the ZTL (limited traffic zone) and limited parking availability.

Festival events are free to attend. Reservations may be required for the Community Dinner and certain specific appointments: please check the official City of Turin website for details.
