About Poggio d'Estate

Poggio d'Estate is the event calendar that brings summer to life in Poggio Imperiale, a small town in the Alto Tavoliere area of the Foggia province. Promoted by the local municipality, the festival fills the town's squares and streets from mid-July to mid-August with concerts, theatrical performances, food festivals showcasing Apulian specialties, beer festivals, dance evenings, and historical re-enactments. It is a widespread, free summer program designed for families, young people, and visitors, offering a different event every single night.

A summer of events in the heart of the Alto Tavoliere

Poggio d'Estate is the summer festival that turns Poggio Imperiale—a town of just over two thousand inhabitants in the Alto Tavoliere, in the province of Foggia, Apulia—into a sprawling open-air stage. Organized by the Municipality of Poggio Imperiale with the support of local associations, committees, and businesses, the program typically runs from the second half of July through Ferragosto, when the town's squares and streets come alive every night with music, shows, and local flavors.

A program for every taste

The strength of Poggio d'Estate lies in its variety: live concerts and tribute bands, theater and comedy shows, dance nights, music festivals, food and wine events, and moments dedicated to culture and literature all coexist in the same calendar. The slogan chosen by the administration, "a different emotion every night," perfectly captures the spirit of the event: a summer designed to ensure the town is never without a reason to gather.

  • Music and Entertainment: concerts, tribute bands, orchestras, and open-air dance evenings.
  • Food Festivals and Gastronomy: events dedicated to local products, from porchetta to fried fish, and from local sausages to traditional Apulian dishes.
  • Festivals and Traditions: historical re-enactments, patronal feasts, pilgrimages, and local staples like the Festival Terranovese and the Carruccio Granprix.
  • Culture and Family: author meet-and-greets, theatrical performances, and activities designed for both adults and children.

The traditions of Poggio Imperiale

The festival is deeply rooted in local identity. Alongside new additions each year, established events return to celebrate the community's memory, such as "A Cummnell", the patronal feasts, and food festivals that highlight the peasant cuisine of the Tavoliere. Poggio Imperiale, founded as an agricultural colony in the 18th century and linked to the Principi Imperiale family, maintains a strong sense of community that finds its greatest expression in this summer festival.

A free, open-air event

The Poggio d'Estate events are held primarily outdoors, in the squares and along the streets of the town center, and are free to attend. It is an ideal opportunity to discover an authentic village of the Capitanata, far from the major tourist circuits but close to the Gargano and the Apulian Adriatic coast.
