When Naples meets Palermo: the pizza festival in the heart of Campofelice di Roccella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Pizza Festival is one of the most anticipated autumn food events in the municipality of Campofelice di Roccella, a small town on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Palermo, overlooking the sea between Cefalรน and Termini Imerese. Established in 2023 by the Pro Loco Campofelice di Roccella APS, the event immediately gained a large following and has been repeated in subsequent years, becoming a small classic in the Sicilian festival calendar.
The heart of the festival is the 'Naples meets Palermo' concept: master pizza makers from Campania and Sicily face off in the same square, comparing two great pizza traditions. The delegation from the Accademia Pizzaioli Partenopei brings the authentic Neapolitan school to Sicily, with dough prepared and baked strictly in wood-fired ovens. Visitors can taste the classic margherita, pizza with sausage and friarielli, the famous fried pizza, and specialties like the 'Bombetta'. Gluten-free pizza is also available for those with celiac disease.
Quality is one of the festival's hallmarks. The stalls feature selected flours, traditional Campania tomatoes, Neapolitan mozzarella and basil, alongside Sicilian grains and typical local products. The result is a journey through the flavors of the Tyrrhenian Sea, from Campania to Sicily, told through the most popular of all Italian dishes.
In addition to the culinary aspect, the Pizza Festival offers several evenings of entertainment: live music, DJ sets, acrobatic pizza performances, jugglers, and family-friendly activities. The streets and squares of the center of Campofelice di Roccella fill with aromas, lights, and people, in a festive atmosphere that involves residents and visitors from all over Sicily.
The festival is traditionally held in autumn, between October and the first days of November. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers: it is best to follow the official Pro Loco channels to learn about the program as soon as it is released.
