The autumn pumpkin festival in the village of Collelavena, Alatri
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When autumn paints the Ciociaria countryside in shades of orange, the village of Collelavena, in the municipality of Alatri (province of Frosinone), dedicates an entire weekend to one of the season's most iconic products: the pumpkin. The Pizza d'Cucozza Festival is a young yet deeply felt event, born in 2024 from the desire to rediscover and promote a simple, rustic local recipe, the pumpkin pizza, affectionately known in the local dialect as pizza d'cucozza.
The absolute star of the festival is the pumpkin, a humble and generous ingredient of Ciociaria's rustic cuisine. The pizza d'cucozza is a traditional preparation rooted in Alatri's farming history, when pumpkins—easy to grow and store—became a staple in family autumn recipes. Around this signature dish, the festival offers a seasonal menu of genuine flavors, set in a warm, welcoming village atmosphere.
The Pizza d'Cucozza Festival is more than just gastronomy: evenings at the Centro Don Bosco in Collelavena are enlivened by live folk music and entertainment, with concerts accompanying dinner and turning the event into a gathering point for the entire community. As an indoor event, the festival takes place in a sheltered and cozy environment, perfect for the crisp November evenings.
Behind the event lies the commitment of the Insieme per Collelavena Association, which manages the organization with the volunteer spirit typical of small village communities. The first edition in November 2024 was a great success, leading to the second edition in 2025, which was expanded by popular demand. The festival is part of Alatri's rich autumn calendar—a city of art known for its megalithic walls and Acropolis—offering visitors another reason to discover the flavors and traditions of the Ciociaria region.
The third edition of the Pizza d'Cucozza Festival has not yet been officially announced. Based on previous years, the festival is expected to take place in November 2026 at the Centro Don Bosco in Collelavena, Alatri. The detailed program, including menus, times, and concerts, will be published by the organizers closer to the event date.
The festival is held at the Centro Don Bosco in the village of Collelavena, in the municipality of Alatri (FR), Lazio. As it is an indoor event, it takes place regardless of weather conditions.
