The festival celebrating a humble traditional Abruzzese peasant dish, held in the historic center of Collecorvino
The Pipindune e Ove Festival is one of the most beloved summer gastronomic events in the municipality of Collecorvino, located in the province of Pescara in the heart of the Abruzzo hills. Born in 2003, the event celebrates a simple and genuine dish of the local peasant tradition: pipindune e ove, which are peppers fried in oil and scrambled with eggs—once a poor man's meal in the countryside and now a symbol of the culinary identity of Collecorvino.
For several evenings in August, the streets and squares of the historic center of Collecorvino are transformed into an open-air food and wine trail. The festival, also known as the "Sagra addavere" (The Real Festival), aims to revitalize the ancient village and help visitors rediscover the traditions of the past among old workshops, craft stalls, and picturesque corners of the town.
Alongside the star dish, pipindune e ove, the food stalls offer numerous specialties of Abruzzese cuisine prepared according to the recipes of local housewives:
The event is not just about taste: every evening is enlivened by folk music, folk groups, traditional dances, and entertainment for all ages. The craft market and exhibitions of local products complete the experience, while a frequent shuttle service from the parking area makes accessing the historic center easy.
Organized with passion by the Pro Loco Corbino and supported by the municipal administration and the Province of Pescara, the Pipindune e Ove Festival is much more than a food fair: it is a way to preserve peasant memory, promote local products, and bring the community of Collecorvino together around the authentic flavors of Abruzzo.
The 21st edition of the Pipindune e Ove Festival will be held from August 1 to 4, 2026, in the historic center of Collecorvino (Pescara). As per tradition, the festival will offer pipindune e ove and other specialties of Abruzzese cuisine prepared by the Pro Loco Corbino over several evenings, featuring food stalls, a craft market, music, and entertainment. The detailed program of the evenings and musical guests will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event on official channels.
Collecorvino is located in the hills of the province of Pescara, just a few kilometers from the Pescara-Villanova exit of the A14 motorway and the city of Pescara. It is easily reached by car via the provincial roads that wind up toward the village.
During the festival, a parking area is available at the sports field with a free shuttle service to the historic center, running at regular intervals.
Stands open in the evening. Admission to the festival is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls.
