The peach festival of San Ferdinando di Puglia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Pesché is the food and wine event through which San Ferdinando di Puglia, a town in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani (BT), pays tribute to the peach, the fruit that best defines the agricultural identity of the Ofanto territory. Organized by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality and the collaboration of the local Cooperativa Coltivatori Diretti, the festival transforms the town into a showcase dedicated to fruit farming, the backbone of the economy in this corner of Puglia bathed by the Ofanto river.
The countryside around San Ferdinando di Puglia is a mosaic of peach orchards that, between June and July, become heavy with fragrant fruit. Pesché was created to highlight this excellence: it is not just a market, but a collective narrative involving producers, agronomists, chefs, and families. The name itself evokes both the peach and the convivial spirit of the event, which unites rural pride with a festive atmosphere.
Each edition weaves together different themes. In the open-air living room of Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II, the program features talks on fruit-growing innovation, meetings dedicated to health and longevity linked to fruit consumption, musical performances, and a rich gastronomic itinerary where the peach becomes the star of creative dishes and offerings. There is also the pomological exhibition, showcasing the numerous varieties grown in the area.
Alongside the events in the square, Pesché offers immersive experiences in the countryside: walks through the peach rows guided by producers, visits to the masseria (traditional farmhouse), and tours of the selection, calibration, and packaging facilities of the Cooperativa Coltivatori Diretti, complete with refreshments featuring Puglian bread, extra virgin olive oil, and local white wines. It is an opportunity to see firsthand the work that brings the peach from the tree to the table.
Pesché is an authentic festival, far from the major tourist circuits, ideal for those who want to discover rural Puglia and its hospitality. Through tastings, children's workshops, and meetings with those who work the land, the event tells the story of a territory that takes pride in the quality of its fruit and its sense of community.
A new edition of Pesché, the peach festival of San Ferdinando di Puglia, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, is expected for 2026. At the moment, the Pro Loco has not yet communicated the official dates or the program of the event. Based on previous editions, the festival is held in July in Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II and offers a pomological exhibition, a gastronomic itinerary, children's workshops, and live music. To find out dates and details, it is advisable to follow the official channels of the Pro Loco San Ferdinando di Puglia.
