The Pentecost Festival and the Faseu bon dal Francù is the signature event of Refrancore, a small town in the Province of Asti, in the heart of the Piedmontese Monferrato. Reaching its 106th edition in 2026, it is one of the most enduring and deeply rooted popular festivals in the region: an event that spans generations and, every year during the long Pentecost weekend, draws residents, families, and visitors from across the Asti area.
The origin of the "Faseu bon dal Francù"
The festival's name refers to the faseu bon dal Francù, the eye beans typical of Refrancore. The tradition is rooted in an act of rural generosity: at Pentecost, landowners would empty their bean stores to make room for the new harvest and, rather than wasting them, would cook them to provide a hot meal for the village's poorest. From that act of sharing, a festival was born that still maintains a strong spirit of solidarity today, featuring the distribution of beans cooked to the local recipe and charity stalls, such as that of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
What to expect
For three days, the historic center transforms into a sprawling stage. The program weaves together different languages and generations:
- Gastronomy: the distribution of the famous faseu bon dal Francù, accompanied by traditional finocchini, the anise-scented sweet biscuits typical of Refrancore.
- Live music: concerts ranging from jazz to pop and rock, hosted in the village squares and venues.
- Art and exhibitions: painting displays and art installations, also featuring collaborations with the Benedetto Alfieri Art High School of Asti.
- Sports: the "StraRefrancore", a non-competitive walk and run open to everyone.
- Tradition and community: processions, popular festivities, and solidarity initiatives that bring the entire village to life.

Organized jointly by the Pro Loco of Refrancore and the Municipality of Refrancore, the festival is much more than a food fair: it is the moment when an entire community gathers around its roots. 106th edition — the 2026 program
The 2026 edition confirmed the three-day format of Refrancore's most beloved festival.
- Saturday, May 23rd — Inauguration of the "Via dell'Amore" art project, two permanent installations created by students of the Benedetto Alfieri Art High School of Asti (the projects "30 Hearts for Refrancore" and "Love and Art"), in the presence of Mayor Diego Mogliotti and Pro Loco President Giovanni Trimarco.
- Sunday, May 24th, 9:00 PM — Concert by the band Only Us, the first stop of their 2026 tour: eighteen musicians conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Volpe for a journey through pop and rock hits from the seventies to today.
- Throughout the event — Distribution of faseu bon dal Francù and traditional finocchini, alongside the usual solidarity initiatives and popular festivities.

Saturday, May 23rd
- Inauguration of the "Via dell'Amore" art project: permanent installations created by students of the Benedetto Alfieri Art High School of Asti ("30 Hearts for Refrancore" and "Love and Art"), with the participation of Mayor Diego Mogliotti, Pro Loco President Giovanni Trimarco, and the teachers and students involved.
- Tasting of faseu bon dal Francù and typical finocchini.
Sunday, May 24th
- 9:00 PM — Concert by the band Only Us (18 members: violins, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, keyboard, electric guitar, bass, drums), conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Volpe, the first stop of the 2026 tour, featuring a repertoire of pop and rock hits from the seventies to today.
The event, spread over the three days of Pentecost, also included the gastronomic distribution of typical beans and charity initiatives.

How to get there
Refrancore is located in the Asti Monferrato, along the road connecting Asti to Nizza Monferrato. By car, the most convenient motorway exit is Asti Est (A21 Turin-Piacenza), from which you can reach the village in about 20 minutes. By train, the reference station is Asti, which is well-connected to Turin and Alessandria; from there, you can reach Refrancore by car or local connections.
When
The festival takes place every year during the long Pentecost weekend, between Friday and Sunday. In 2026, the dates were May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
Costs
Admission to the festival and events in the squares is generally free; the distribution of the faseu and gastronomic products is available for a donation or at popular prices at the Pro Loco stands.
