The patronal feast of the Cavaticchi hamlet, blending devotion, music, and Abruzzese flavors
Every summer, the hamlet of Cavaticchi, a small hillside village in the municipality of Spoltore in the province of Pescara, renews its most authentic identity with the Patronal Feast of San Giacomo and Madonna al Rosario. Despite its small size, this location in the Pescara hinterland preserves its own religious identity and its patron saints, around whom one of the most cherished festivals of the Spoltore calendar revolves.
As per the best tradition of Abruzzese patronal feasts, the program is divided into religious and secular parts. Devotion finds its place in the Holy Rosary, the celebration of Holy Mass, and above all in the evocative procession that winds through the streets of the village, accompanied by a brass band and greeted by fireworks. It is the moment when the community finds itself united in faith and in the memory of past generations.
Alongside the spiritual dimension, the festival explodes into a joyful secular celebration. The festivities open with the ringing of traditional firecrackers, while for three days the square transforms into a lively meeting point featuring:
Cavaticchi represents one of those treasures that guard the charm of the rural landscapes of the Pescara hinterland, where the hills slope gently towards the Adriatic.
