About Torcito Living Nativity

Every year, between Christmas and Epiphany, the Parco Torcito in Cannole transforms into an enchanted village where the Nativity comes to life. Along the ancient Via Francigena, amidst dry-stone walls, the Torre Colombaia, historic ice houses, and a striking underground olive mill, costumed actors recreate traditional crafts and the atmosphere of the Night in Bethlehem. A living nativity scene immersed in the Salento countryside, complete with an elf village, local pittule, and mulled wine. Free admission, in the heart of the province of Lecce.

The Parco Torcito Living Nativity

In the heart of Salento, just a short distance from the center of Cannole (province of Lecce), Parco Torcito becomes the natural stage for one of the most evocative living nativity scenes in Puglia every holiday season. Nestled among dry-stone walls, rural courtyards, and paths that tell centuries of history, the nativity scene combines spirituality, tradition, and scenic beauty into a single emotional journey that turns the park into an enchanted village where the Nativity comes to life.

A journey along the Via Francigena

The path winds along the ancient southern Via Francigena and crosses the iconic sites of the ancient medieval farm complex: the Torre Colombaia, the fascinating neviere (historic ice houses), and a captivating underground olive mill carved into the rock. Along the way, moving craft scenes, costumed actors, and meticulously detailed settings guide visitors through the discovery of ancient trades, leading up to the Nativity Hut. The fortified Masseria di Torcito, whose original core dates back to the 12th century, provides a historic backdrop for the entire route.

More than just a nativity: activities and flavors

The experience goes beyond the sacred representation, enriched with moments designed for both adults and children. The scents of Salento tradition fill the winter evenings, with freshly fried pittule and mulled wine, perfect for warming the body and spirit.

  • Elf village dedicated to the little ones
  • Selfie area and photo spots
