During the Epiphany period, the hamlet of Vollon, in Brusson (Aosta Province), hosts Pane e Magia - The Epiphany Market. The heart of the event is the extraordinary opening of the historic community oven, where the traditional black bread made from rye is baked, a symbol of the Aosta Valley's Alpine culture.
The hamlet ovens (the fôr) have been the focal point of life in the Aosta Valley villages for centuries: in the past, families would bake large quantities of rye bread together, intended to last for months. Seeing the Vollon oven lit again means reliving an ancient, collective gesture, now passed down as a heritage of identity.
Around the oven, a market develops with stands of local crafts and typical products, accompanied by music and entertainment. It's an opportunity to taste the freshly baked black bread, discover the creations of the artisans of the Val d'Ayas, and experience the magical atmosphere of Epiphany.
Pane e Magia is part of the rich calendar of events that Brusson dedicates to Epiphany, along with the Epiphany on Skis and the Epiphany Race. A weekend of celebration that closes the Christmas holidays amidst snow, traditions, and mountain flavors.
Pane e Magia - The Epiphany Market 2026 will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, starting at 10:00 AM, in the hamlet of Vollon (Rue Saint Pantaléon), in Brusson.

Brusson can be reached from the Verrès motorway exit (A5), driving up the Val d'Ayas for about 20 km. The hamlet of Vollon is located along Rue Saint Pantaléon.
