The Pane Cunzato Festival is one of the culinary highlights of the summer in Misiliscemi, a municipality in the province of Trapani, Sicily. Born from the union of eight local districts—including Salinagrande, Guarrato, Rilievo, Marausa, Locogrande, Palma, Pietretagliate, and Fontanasalsa—Misiliscemi is a young community that has chosen to promote its folk traditions through a packed calendar of summer festivals. The event is dedicated to one of the symbols of Sicilian peasant cuisine: pane cunzato, literally "seasoned bread".

Pane cunzato originated as a simple, hearty peasant dish: a loaf of durum wheat bread, often still warm, sliced open and seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, fresh tomatoes, oregano, salt, salted anchovies, and primosale or pecorino cheese.
