The Pancotto and Wine Festival is one of the most beloved autumn gastronomic events in Foggia, in the heart of the Capitanata area. Created to showcase the city's traditions and flavors, the festival brings the signature dish of the Tavoliere's humble cuisine to the streets, celebrating it with two days of tastings, fine wine, music, and shows. Now easily recognizable by its #CcchiuFort slogan, the event has become a collective ritual that brings together families, curious foodies, and enthusiasts of traditional cooking.
Foggia-style pancotto is one of the oldest recipes of the local peasant tradition: stale bread slow-cooked with wild field greens, potatoes, garlic, chili pepper, and a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. It is a simple dish, born from the need to waste nothing, which tells the agricultural history of the Tavoliere delle Puglie and still perfectly captures the identity of Foggia today. During the festival, the pancotto is prepared by local restaurateurs and served in its most authentic variations, paired with regional wines.
The festival enlivens the city center of Foggia: in recent editions, it has been held between Piazza Umberto Giordano and Via Lanza, the city's scenic heart, featuring food stalls, tasting points, and a stage for evening performances. Previous editions have also animated other areas of the historic center, such as Piazza Cesare Battisti and the Piazza del Purgatorio area, confirming the strong bond between the event and the urban fabric of the Daunian capital.
Beyond the food and wine, the Pancotto and Wine Festival offers a rich entertainment program: live concerts, tribute bands, DJ sets, and animation that transform the squares into a massive, free-entry popular event. It is this combination of traditional cuisine and entertainment that has made the festival increasingly popular, reaching record numbers in recent years.
The event is promoted by the Pro Loco of Foggia "Maria Carla Orsi", with the support of the Municipality of Foggia, the Apulia Region, and the UNPLI network of Apulian Pro Loco associations. It is a team effort aimed at enhancing local traditions and revitalizing the center of Foggia as a place for social interaction and discovering the typical flavors of the Province of Foggia and all of Apulia.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Pancotto and Wine Festival in Foggia have not yet been officially announced. Following the success of previous years, the event is expected in autumn, featuring the usual format of Foggia-style pancotto tastings, local wine, food stalls, concerts, and free-entry street performances. To find out the dates, venue, and detailed program, it is best to follow the official channels of the Pro Loco of Foggia "Maria Carla Orsi".

Foggia is a major railway hub: the central station is just a few minutes' walk from the city center. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway (Foggia exit) and the Tavoliere state roads. The festival squares are in the heart of the city, easily reachable on foot from the center.
Admission to the festival is free. Tastings of pancotto, wine, and local products are paid for directly at the stalls. For updated dates, times, and programs, we recommend following the social media channels of the organizing Pro Loco.
