The family-friendly snow week on the Paganella Plateau
The Paganella Family Festival (Winter Edition) is the most anticipated winter event for families choosing the Trentino mountains. The festival takes place on the Paganella Plateau, with its hub in Andalo and activities spread across Fai della Paganella and Molveno, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). For an entire week, the ski area becomes a massive snow playground, with a daily program of events—either free or included in Family Hotel packages—designed for the enjoyment of both adults and children.
The program centers on family skiing: the plateau's ski schools guide children and beginners on the slopes, while the snow play areas—the baby parks of Dosson and Andalo—offer mini-slopes, snow tubes, monoskis, and games for the little ones. There is also sledding on the Meriz slope, with open days and family challenges, as well as ice skating at Andalo Life. For younger children, the ski pass is free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Beyond skiing, the festival offers a rich calendar of nature-based experiences: snowshoeing and forest walks to discover animal tracks, evening torchlight processions with a guide, horse-drawn carriage rides, and panoramic tourist trains through the historic villages of the plateau. The Biblioigloo at Prati di Gaggia hosts nature-inspired creative workshops, while magic shows and the traditional Family Day at the Andalo Congress Center—featuring clowns, inflatables, face painting, and a Nutella Party—bring the days to life.
The Winter Edition is split into two sessions during the winter, one in January and one in March, covering the best of the ski season in the Brenta Dolomites. The event is organized by the Dolomiti Paganella Tourist Board, which coordinates accommodations, ski schools, and lifts to provide an offer tailored to families.
The Paganella has long been recognized as one of the most family-friendly destinations in the Italian Alps: gentle slopes, child-focused services in Family Hotels, and a safe environment make this corner of Trentino the ideal destination for a snow vacation with little ones. The Family Festival concentrates the best of this vocation into one week, combining sports, nature, and fun.
The 2026 Paganella Family Festival (Winter Edition) was held over two weeks: from January 12 to 19 and from March 7 to 15, 2026. During both periods, the Paganella Plateau, in Andalo and neighboring towns, hosted a daily calendar of events for families.
Highlights included: open days at Andalo Life (skating), the Dosson Baby Park (mini-slopes, snow tubes, monoskis), and the Meriz sledding slope with family challenges, with free entry for Family Hotel guests. There were also torchlight processions in the woods, panoramic tourist trains through the villages, the Andalo Magic illusionist show, the Family Day at the Congress Center, and creative workshops at the Biblioigloo at Prati di Gaggia.
January (12-19): Andalo Winter Park, forest snowshoeing with animal track searching, sledding in Molveno, carriage rides, Family Day at the Congress Center with clowns, inflatables and Nutella Party, family ski challenge, and opening/closing ceremonies.
March (7-15): Andalo Life open day, Dosson Baby Park and Meriz sledding, torchlight procession in the woods, panoramic trains, Andalo Magic, Family Day at the Congress Center, Paganella Sunset at the summit, Biblioigloo workshops, and Kids Survival Camp at the Rindole School Field.
Andalo can be reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway (San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona exit), then taking the SS43 and SP421 towards the Paganella Plateau. By train, arrive at Trento or Mezzocorona station, with bus connections available to Andalo.
The plateau's Family Hotels offer dedicated half-board packages, often including free entry to baby parks, events, and workshops. Free ski passes are available for young children accompanied by a paying adult, along with reduced junior rates.
