The Easter concert by the Aldino brass band in South Tyrol
The Osterkonzert der Musikkapelle Aldein is the annual Easter concert of the brass band of Aldino/Aldein, a municipality located on the Regglberg plateau in the autonomous province of Bolzano, Trentino-South Tyrol. Described by the association itself as a "musical highlight of the year" (ein musikalischer Höhepunkt im Vereinsjahr), it represents the most important and well-attended event in the band's calendar.
The Aldino brass band traces its roots back to 1913, when some local church singers formed a Musikkapelle to accompany processions and community celebrations. Since then, the group has grown to become a pillar of cultural life on the Regglberg, affiliated with the Verband Südtiroler Musikkapellen (VSM), the federation of South Tyrolean brass bands. Since 2023, the artistic direction has been entrusted to Kapellmeister Michael Erschbamer. During official performances, the female musicians wear the Regglberger Frauentracht, the traditional plateau costume, first worn in 1988.
The Easter concert is the occasion where the band showcases a full year of rehearsals. The program, curated by the conductor, spans various genres: traditional marches, overtures, soundtracks, light music, and symphonic arrangements designed for brass bands. In some editions, the evening has also hosted premieres of original compositions, such as Bletterbach Canyon by Rupert Hechensteiner, dedicated to the nearby Bletterbach Canyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Dolomites.
The concert is held in the Turnhalle of the Sportzentrum Aldein (the municipal sports center gym on Sportplatzweg), which has welcomed the event's large audience every year since 2014. The intimate atmosphere and the participation of the locals make the evening a true celebration for the entire community of Aldino and its surrounding hamlets.
In South Tyrol, brass bands (Musikkapellen) are a central element of village identity: the Aldino Easter concert is a living example of this, blending tradition, volunteer work, and a passion for music. For those visiting the Regglberg in spring, the Osterkonzert offers an authentic glimpse into South Tyrolean culture, far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The Musikkapelle Aldein celebrated its 2026 Easter concert on Sunday, April 5, at 8:30 PM, in the sports center gym of Aldino/Aldein. Conducted by Kapellmeister Michael Erschbamer, the group presented a program designed for the occasion, spanning marches, overtures, and band arrangements. The Osterkonzert, the highlight of the association's year, confirmed its role in 2026 as a defining identity event for the community of this village on the Regglberg plateau, in the province of Bolzano.
