The premier event for white wines of the Asti Monferrato, featuring Chardonnay, Moscato d'Asti DOCG, and Champagne.
In the heart of the Asti Monferrato, the Castle of Costigliole d'Asti hosts Oro Bianco, an event entirely dedicated to the region's finest white wines. This two-day celebration of tastings, in-depth seminars, and wine culture focuses on Chardonnay and Moscato d'Asti DOCG—the two white wine excellences of this corner of Piedmont—with Champagne playing the role of a prestigious international guest.
The event is rooted in a unique historical tale: it was right here in Costigliole d'Asti that the Marquis Filippo Antonio Asinari di San Marzano introduced Chardonnay to Italy between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This pioneering act forged the deep bond between this village in the province of Asti and the white grape varieties that Oro Bianco celebrates today within the halls and towers of its medieval fortress.
The event is organized by AIS Piemonte (Asti delegation) and offers an immersive experience designed for enthusiasts, professionals, and curious visitors alike. Highlights include:
Supported by the municipal administration, with Mayor Enrico Cavallero and Deputy Mayor Laura Bianco among its promoters, Oro Bianco aims to become a benchmark for promoting Piedmontese white wines. It is an ambitious format built on quality and terroir identity, designed to introduce the Asti Monferrato and the village of Costigliole d'Asti to an ever-growing audience of wine tourists and enthusiasts.
The first edition of Oro Bianco took place on May 2 and 3, 2026, at the Castle of Costigliole d'Asti, with continuous hours from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Organized by AIS Piemonte, the event brought together a large and qualified audience to celebrate the great white wines of the region.
The edition recorded a success described by organizers as "beyond expectations," confirming the value of a format built from scratch around the quality and identity of the Asti terroir.
Over 100 producers and more than 250 labels available for tasting at the counters managed by AIS Piemonte sommeliers: dry, sweet, and passito Moscato, Asti DOCG and Canelli DOCG, steel-aged and wood-aged Chardonnay, as well as approximately 90 Champagne labels from small independent growers (Récoltant Manipulant).
Four food-and-wine pairing sessions led by AIS sommeliers in one of the castle towers, celebrating the conviviality of a well-set table.
Among the featured paths: "Noble Roots: The Journey of Chardonnay" and "Moscato Experience: Anatomy of a Territory," alongside the Oro Bianco Lounge.
Oro Bianco takes place at the Castle of Costigliole d'Asti, located at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, 8, in the historic center of the village, in the province of Asti.
