About Olive Festival

Every November, the village of Casalbianco in the municipality of Valderice (Trapani province) hosts the Olive Festival: a food, wine, and cultural event dedicated to new olive oil, olives, and the ancient tradition of harvesting. Held at the former elementary school, the event is organized by the A.C.R.A.S.S. Association and features tastings of pane cunzato, extra virgin olive oil, local Sicilian products, displays of traditional harvesting tools, and lively community celebrations.

The Olive Festival in Casalbianco

The Olive Festival is one of the most cherished events in the Valderice area, located in the heart of western Sicily, near Trapani. Held every November at the former elementary school in Casalbianco, it celebrates the most anticipated moment of the agricultural season: the olive harvest and the pressing of the new olive oil.

A celebration of oil and land

The festival stems from the deep-rooted connection between the Trapani region and olive cultivation. The undisputed star is the extra virgin olive oil—freshly pressed and fragrant—best enjoyed in its most authentic form: drizzled over traditional pane cunzato, seasoned with salt, oregano, and tomato. Visitors can explore various stalls to sample different olive varieties and a wide array of authentic Sicilian delicacies.

Tradition, culture, and rural heritage

The Olive Festival is more than just a culinary event; it is an opportunity to rediscover the region's cultural roots. Throughout the festival, harvesting tools—both ancient and modern—are on display, accompanied by screenings of films and images documenting the olive picking and milling process. It is a journey that bridges rural memory with modern techniques, honoring knowledge passed down through generations.

Organization

The event is managed by the A.C.R.A.S.S. Socio-Cultural Association of Casalbianco, which has long been dedicated to promoting the traditions and identity of the village. Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers, the festival has grown into a staple of the autumn calendar in the province of Trapani.

Atmosphere

With music, entertainment, food stalls, and a warm, convivial atmosphere, the Olive Festival attracts visitors from Valderice, Trapani, and surrounding towns every year. It is the perfect way to spend an autumn day enjoying the authentic flavors of Sicily, surrounded by the scent of freshly pressed oil and the heartfelt hospitality of the Casalbianco community.
