The women's charity walk in Dozza
Nuova StraDozza is much more than just a walk: it's a women's celebration morning that, around International Women's Day on March 8th, enlivens the village of Dozza, in the heart of the Province of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna. Reserved for women, the non-competitive walk transforms the village streets into a colorful river of participants walking together for a good cause.
The event has its roots in 2013 when Rina Sperindio and her friends created "StraDozza: the only SuperWomen's walk". For over ten editions, this group of volunteers passionately organized the initiative, raising tens of thousands of euros for the Imola Local Health Authority (Ausl). With the 2025 edition, the thirteenth, Rina and her friends concluded their journey. From 2026, the baton has passed to Pro Loco di Dozza APS, which has relaunched the event under the name "Nuova StraDozza", maintaining its spirit of solidarity intact.
The heart of StraDozza is charity: registration is by free donation, and all proceeds are donated to the Imola Ausl. In recent years, donations have helped cover the costs of the screening mammography machine at the Community House of Castel San Pietro Terme, a concrete gesture for the prevention and health of women in the area.
The start is set in Piazza Zotti, in the historic center of Dozza, one of Italy's most beautiful villages, famous for its painted walls and the Rocca Sforzesca. The route, a few kilometers long, winds through the village streets and reaches the hamlet of Toscanella. Upon arrival, participants are greeted with music, gadgets, and the cheerfulness of a community that makes solidarity a regular fixture on its calendar.
The first Nuova StraDozza under the Pro Loco di Dozza APS banner took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, for International Women's Day. Despite the change in organization, the event confirmed its success: 750 participants joined the women's walk, raising €4,370 through free donations.
The funds were handed over to the General Director of the Imola Local Health Authority, Agostina Aimola, to support the costs of the screening mammography machine at the Community House of Castel San Pietro Terme. Mayor Luca Albertazzi emphasized that the StraDozza has now "become a characteristic element of our town.".
All proceeds were donated to the Imola Local Health Authority for the screening mammography machine at the Community House of Castel San Pietro Terme.
