A journey through the history of motorsport in Imola

The Imola Classic by Peter Auto is one of the most anticipated events for historic racing car enthusiasts in Italy. The event takes place at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit, the legendary Imola track which is run anti-clockwise, 4.909 km long and inaugurated in 1953, in the Municipality of Imola in the province of Bologna, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna.

The event is organized by Peter Auto, a historic French entity specializing in organizing races for vintage cars throughout Europe. The return of the French caravan to Imola, after the editions of 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2018, marked the relaunch of an event that puts some of the most iconic racing cars of the 20th century on the track.

The grids and categories in competition

The heart of Imola Classic is the Peter Auto grids, which bring together authentic cars from the era, perfectly restored and still competitive. Among the protagonist series are usually:

• Group C — the endurance prototypes that dominated the Eighties and early Nineties;
• Classic Endurance Racing (CER 1 and 2) — sports cars and GTs from the Sixties and Seventies;
• Endurance Racing Legends — more recent prototypes and GTs, up to the 2010s;
• Sixties' Endurance — pre-1963 sports cars and pre-1966 GTs;
• Heritage Touring Cup and Classic Touring Challenge — the great touring racing cars;
• The Gentlemen Challenge and the 2.0 L Cup.

In recent editions, true legends such as the Porsche 917 K, the Ford GT40, the Ferrari 312 PB, and the Chevrolet Corvette C1 have been seen on the track, in front of an audience of connoisseurs.

Towards an annual event

Starting from 2026, Imola Classic will become part of the new Le Mans Classic Series circuit, the evolution of the Peter Auto series dedicated to the heritage of endurance and touring cars, from the Fifties to the 2010s. The event thus becomes a fixed fixture on the calendar, hosted on one of Europe's most beloved tracks, and eligible participants can access Le Mans Classic with preferential lane.

Imola, with its atmosphere steeped in motorsport passion and its indissoluble link with Ferrari's history, is the ideal setting to relive the excitement of the great endurance races.
