The Novellara Summer Fest is the celebration that, for an entire weekend in early July, transforms Piazza Unità d'Italia — the living room of Novellara, a municipality in the Province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia-Romagna — into a large village dedicated to sport, music, and conviviality. The main square becomes a playground, a stage, and a meeting place, with a program that intertwines three souls: sport during the day, music in the evening, and food throughout the event.
Sport takes center stage
The beating heart of the festival are the sports tournaments that take place from morning till sunset. Among the disciplines that liven up the festival editions are:
- basketball and three-on-three tournaments;
- sand sports and beach sports;
- water sports and splash volley;
- five-a-side football and slippery football;
- board games, E-Sports, and skill tests such as pole vaulting.
The challenges are accompanied by entertainment, talks with sports personalities, and activities open to all ages, in an informal and participatory atmosphere.
Music, DJ sets, and food
When evening falls, the square changes its look: live concerts and DJ sets accompany the evenings, while the food & beverage area with stands and food trucks offers dishes, street food, and drinks for those who want to stay for dinner and enjoy the party late into the night.
An event with a charitable soul
The Novellara Summer Fest is not just about fun: the proceeds from the event fund a Sports Fund designed to support local families. In the 2025-2026 sports year, the fund has helped cover the sports fees for numerous children and teenagers in Novellara, confirming the community and inclusive spirit of an event created for and with the city.
