Notturna di Scerne

A classic of Abruzzo running

The Notturna di Scerne is one of the most well-established road races on the Teramo coast. Every year, in the heart of summer, the seafront of Scerne di Pineto, a district of the Municipality of Pineto in the province of Teramo (Abruzzo), transforms into a race course that attracts athletes and enthusiasts from across the region and beyond. The evening format, starting at dusk, offers a picturesque setting and milder temperatures compared to daytime races in July.

Two challenges for everyone

The event offers two complementary formats:

• 9.5 km competitive race: reserved for registered athletes, it follows a fast track along the coast, with a spectacular finish on the Scerne seafront.
• Walk of the Sea: a non-competitive fun run/walk with 3.5 km and 7 km routes, designed for those who want to enjoy the evening by walking or jogging with family and friends.

An event with a social cause

The Notturna di Scerne is about more than just sport: the event has long had a charitable focus. A portion of the entry fee for each participant is donated to a charitable organization, combining a passion for running with a concrete gesture of generosity.

A recognized circuit

The race is included in the main Abruzzo running calendars and serves as a stage for regional and provincial circuits such as Corrilabruzzo, Corrimaster, and the Criterium Piceni & Pretuzi, in addition to being a qualifying event for the Regional Road Running Championship. This recognition makes it an important appointment for athletes chasing general classification points.

The setting of Pineto

Pineto, with its pine forests reaching down to the sea and the famous Torre di Cerrano nearby, is one of the most appreciated seaside destinations in Abruzzo. Running in the evening along its coastline, with the Adriatic breeze and the festive atmosphere of the summer season, is an experience that goes beyond simple sporting competition and has made this 'Notturna' a classic of the local running tradition.
