The grand end-of-summer festival that lights up Chieti Scalo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every September, Notte Gialla (Yellow Night) celebrates the end of summer in Chieti Scalo, the modern and vibrant lower district of the Municipality of Chieti, in the province of Chieti (Abruzzo). Originally conceived as a festive night to support the local commercial district, it has grown into the city's most anticipated musical and popular event: an evening where the entire area turns into a massive open-air stage, symbolically painted in yellow, the color of light and celebration.
For Notte Gialla, the center of the Scalo is closed to traffic and returned to pedestrians: over two kilometers of streets become one giant pedestrian zone encompassing the neighborhood's main thoroughfares, including Via Scaraviglia, Via De Virgiliis, Via Avezzano, Viale Abruzzo, and Viale Benedetto Croce, all the way to Piazzale Marconi. Along this route, you will find numerous music stages and dozens of artistic performances, with genres ranging from pop to metal, dance to cabaret, catering to audiences of all ages.
Notte Gialla is more than just concerts. Along the streets animated by the festival, you will find markets, street food stalls, gastronomic stands, shops open late into the evening, and roving performers. Among the latest additions is the gaming zone, a space dedicated to video games, tournaments, and cosplay gatherings, which attracts a younger audience and expands the evening's offerings beyond just music.
Notte Gialla is the highlight of the Eventi Scalini series, the summer program promoted by the Municipality of Chieti that brings concerts and shows to the lower part of the city for weeks. The strong involvement of local merchants and associations makes the event a true community staple, capable of attracting thousands of visitors from across the province and turning a late-summer evening into a massive collective celebration.
With its festive atmosphere, live music, delicious food, and the energy of an entire neighborhood taking to the streets, Notte Gialla is the perfect opportunity to experience Chieti Scalo in a whole new light. It is a free, open-air event suitable for families, young people, and music lovers alike, blending popular tradition, entertainment, and conviviality in the heart of Abruzzo.
The 2026 edition of Notte Gialla has not yet been made official: as of today, the Municipality of Chieti has not communicated either the date or the program for the upcoming event. Based on previous editions, the event is traditionally held in September in Chieti Scalo as the highlight of the Eventi Scalini series. This page will be updated as soon as official information regarding the date, artists, and setup is released.
Chieti Scalo, the lower part of the Municipality of Chieti (Abruzzo), with a pedestrian zone along the main streets of the neighborhood up to Piazzale Marconi.
By train: Chieti Scalo station, just a few steps from the festival area. By car: A25/A14 motorway exits (Chieti-Pescara); during the event, road closures and parking bans are in effect in the area, so it is recommended to park in the surrounding areas and reach the pedestrian zone on foot.
Access to Notte Gialla is free. The event takes place in the evening and continues late into the night.
