High-altitude concert at Colle della Bercia, above Boves
Note in Bisalta is the scenic concert held every year at Colle della Bercia, the wide grassy mountain pass that opens up above the hamlet of San Giacomo di Boves, in the heart of the Cuneo Alps. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Boves (Province of Cuneo, Piedmont), combines a mountain hike and an open-air concert in a single day, turning the pass into a stunning natural stage overlooking the Bisalta massif.
The first edition took place in June 2025 and was born from the municipal administration's desire to showcase the Boves mountains and invite residents and hikers to rediscover the trails leading up to the Bercia. The initiative is part of the Municipality's efforts to promote the area, designed to combine walking, scenery, and culture. Given the success of the first edition, the event has become a recurring fixture in the Boves summer calendar.
The heart of Note in Bisalta is the open-air concert that takes place at noon or in the early afternoon, once the pass is reached. Each edition features a different musical ensemble: from brass bands with repertoires ranging from classical music to international pop, to multifaceted ensembles capable of traversing the world's musical traditions. The natural setting, with the open acoustics of the mountains and the panorama of the surrounding peaks, makes every performance a unique experience.
An integral part of the event is the approach hike: from the San Giacomo di Boves parking lot, you walk up the trails that lead to Colle della Bercia. It is an invitation to experience the mountains at a slow pace, enjoying the landscape and arriving at the concert with the right spirit. For those who wish, a shuttle service is usually provided to reduce the walking distance.
Boves, a town at the foot of the Bisalta, is a privileged gateway to the mountains of the Granda. Note in Bisalta tells the story of this deep bond between the Boves community and its peaks, offering participants a day that weaves together nature, gentle sports, and musical culture in one of the most beautiful settings in southern Piedmont.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, the high-altitude concert Note in Bisalta returns to Boves for its second edition. The appointment is at 12:00 PM at Colle della Bercia, above the hamlet of San Giacomo di Boves.
The star of the 2026 edition is the Cafè Express ensemble, a versatile group that performs world music: its members boast collaborations with great names in Italian and international music and with institutions such as the Arena di Verona, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, and the Teatro Regio di Parma, blending classical training with folk traditions.
To reach the pass, you start on foot from the San Giacomo parking lot (about 60 minutes of walking); alternatively, a shuttle service is available from Castellar to Tetto Filibert Soprano, which reduces the walk to about 30 minutes on unpaved terrain. Mountain-appropriate clothing and a blanket are recommended.
