The collective summer evening in Pretoro featuring music and gastronomy
Note e Sapori is one of the most awaited evenings of the summer in Pretoro, a small village perched at approximately 560 meters on the slopes of the Majella, in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Recognized as one of the 'Borghi piรน belli d'Italia' (Most Beautiful Villages in Italy), for one night, Pretoro transforms its alleys and small squares into a grand open-air stage, where live music intertwines with the scents and flavors of local cuisine.
What makes Note e Sapori special is its deeply collective nature: the evening is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Pretoro and numerous local associations and organizations that come together to bring the village to life. It is not an event imposed from above, but a festival built by the community itself, welcoming residents and visitors in an atmosphere of authentic village conviviality.
The common thread of the event is captured in its name: on one hand, the note (notes), with live music and entertainment accompanying the evening; on the other, the sapori (flavors), with Abruzzese food and wine specialties taking center stage at the stalls and refreshment points set up in the historic center. Traditional dishes, local products, and regional wines become an opportunity to rediscover the food culture of this corner of the Majella.
Note e Sapori is part of the rich Estate a Pretoro (Summer in Pretoro) calendar, which accompanies the town from early June until September with excursions, shows, cultural events, and themed evenings. The festival represents one of the highlights of this calendar, capable of attracting locals, vacationers, and hikers drawn by the nature of the Majella National Park.
Experiencing Note e Sapori also means discovering Pretoro, historically known as the village of the fusariโskilled artisans who carved Majella wood to produce the famous spinning spindles. A tradition of craftsmanship that still survives today in the village's alleys, among workshops, museums, and ancient trades, providing the ideal backdrop for an evening dedicated to conviviality and the roots of the territory.
The Note e Sapori 2026 evening is set for Friday, July 31, 2026, in the historic center of Pretoro (CH), in Abruzzo. The event is confirmed as a grand collective festival involving local associations and organizations, combining live music and traditional Abruzzese flavors in an atmosphere of village conviviality.
The detailed program for the evening, including times and scheduled initiatives, is defined by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event and will be shared through the channels of the Municipality of Pretoro and local associations, as part of the 'Estate a Pretoro 2026' calendar.
The evening takes place in the historic center of Pretoro (CH), in Abruzzo, throughout the squares and alleys of the village.
By car: A25 motorway exit Alanno-Scafa, then take the SS81 towards Chieti and follow provincial roads to Pretoro. The village is approximately 30 km from Chieti and Pescara. By train: the nearest station is Chieti Scalo, which is connected by local bus services.
The event is a popular public festival; participation is free, while food and drinks at the stalls are available for purchase.
Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking through the sloping historic center. It is the ideal opportunity to combine the evening with a visit to the village and a hike in the Majella National Park.
