The wild boar feast in the heart of the Aretine Valdichiana
The Noceta Wild Boar Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the spring in Castiglion Fiorentino, in the province of Arezzo. It takes place in the small village of Noceta, nestled in the countryside of the Aretine Valdichiana, and is organized by the Gli Amici del Re della Macchia wild boar hunting team, with the patronage of the Municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino. The event celebrates an animal deeply linked to the territory and the wooded hills of the Arezzo area, where wild boar hunting is a tradition passed down from generation to generation.
The heart of the festival is, of course, the kitchen. For two weekends, the food stands offer a high-quality menu featuring typical Valdichiana specialties: dishes based on wild boar meat prepared according to traditional Tuscan peasant recipes. The signature dish is slow-cooked wild boar, but over the years the menu has been enriched with new offerings such as wild boar shank. There is also the ever-popular pizza, which is particularly appreciated by families and young people.
One of the festival's strengths is its welcoming environment: the venue is fully covered and heated, a precious feature for May evenings, which can still be cool in the hills. The atmosphere is that of a typical Tuscan village feast, where people gather around tables to share good food, local wine, and moments of conviviality. It is a genuine opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Castiglion Fiorentino countryside, far from mass tourism circuits.
The festival is part of the rich calendar of village fairs and feasts in Castiglion Fiorentino, a medieval town perched between Arezzo and Cortona. Visiting Noceta during the festival also means discovering a territory rich in history, hilly landscapes, and an enogastronomic tradition of absolute value, which makes Tuscany and the province of Arezzo an unmissable destination for food lovers.
The 2026 edition of the Noceta Wild Boar Festival confirmed the success of an event now deeply rooted in the Castiglion Fiorentino area. For two weekends, the food stands offered classic wild boar meat dishes and the ever-present pizza, with the addition of wild boar shank as a novelty for the 26th edition. The heated facilities welcomed visitors for evening dinners and Sunday lunches, in an atmosphere of celebration and conviviality typical of Tuscan festivals.
The menu features traditional wild boar dishes, wild boar shank (2026 novelty), and pizza. Covered and heated facilities.
The festival is held at the Circolo ACLI La Noceta, in the village of Noceta, Municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino (AR), in the Aretine Valdichiana.
