The festival of rights at the Villa Comunale in Nocera Inferiore
The Nocera Pride Fest was established in 2025 as the first major event in the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese area dedicated to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. By its second edition, it had already established itself as one of the most well-attended civil events in the calendar of Nocera Inferiore, a city in the province of Salerno, in the heart of Campania. It is not a traditional parade: it is a community festival, a long day where political and social debate coexists with music, workshops, and conviviality.
The idea was born from the need expressed by local activists to have a safe space in the city, a place where one could be themselves without having to travel to Naples or Salerno. From that request, an event was born that grows every year and, as the organizers have noted, never lowers its guard on civil rights issues.
The venue is the Villa Comunale «R. De Sauget» on Via Solimena, the city's historic garden, restored to public life thanks to the work of the Controcorrente association, which manages it with a community-focused program. Tree-lined avenues, lawns, and shaded areas host the stage, information stands, refreshment areas, and corners dedicated to workshops: a choice that makes the event truly accessible to everyone, from families with children to the elderly.
The day unfolds from late afternoon until night, with a rhythm that alternates between moments of reflection and celebration:
The organization is entrusted to the Controcorrente association, supported by the Arcigay Salerno «Marcella Di Folco» circle and UGS Campania, along with numerous local associations and the support of the Nocera Inferiore municipal administration. It is precisely this broad network, which goes beyond the strictly LGBTQIA+ world, that gives the event the character of a city festival rather than a niche event.
The municipality has supported the event since its first edition. Mayor Paolo De Maio emphasized how "Nocera Inferiore confirms itself as an open, welcoming, and deeply inclusive city," reiterating the administration's commitment to ensuring that all people feel their rights are protected. Councilor Clotilde Supino defined the Pride Fest as "an important opportunity for reflection, participation, and growth for the territory."
The Nocera Pride Fest is a prime example of how a rights-based event can become a moment of city life: you can enter for free, listen to a debate, walk your dog, or stay for the DJ set. For those visiting Campania during Pride season, it is also an opportunity to discover the Agro Nocerino, an area often ignored by tourist circuits despite being just a few kilometers from Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and Salerno.
After the success of the first edition in July 2025, the Nocera Pride Fest returned on Saturday, June 6, 2026, to the Villa Comunale «R. De Sauget» in Nocera Inferiore, in the province of Salerno, with a day entirely dedicated to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, inclusion, and dialogue with the territory.
The event was organized by the Controcorrente association in collaboration with the Arcigay Salerno «Marcella Di Folco» circle and UGS Campania, along with numerous local entities and with the support of the municipal administration. The stage featured activists, institutional representatives, and delegates from national and local associations, with moments of debate on the most urgent issues for the community.
Compared to 2025, the program grew: thematic workshops, group activities, exhibitions, and entertainment spaces dedicated to children were introduced, for an event designed to be truly intergenerational. In the evening, the festival gave way to live music, artistic performances, and DJ sets, with the participation of Lady Fire Hilton in the role of official godmother and a special performance.
Mayor Paolo De Maio reiterated that "Nocera Inferiore confirms itself as an open, welcoming, and deeply inclusive city," while Councilor Clotilde Supino spoke of "an important opportunity for reflection, participation, and growth for the territory."
