The Night of a Thousand Colors is the summer white night of Campofiorito, a small town in the inland province of Palermo, Sicily. On an August evening, the streets of the historic center light up with wonder and sound: the event turns the village into a massive open-air theater where contemporary circus, street arts, and fire shows perform until deep into the night. It is one of the most anticipated highlights of the Estate Campofioritana, the summer festival program promoted by the local municipality.
The heart of the evening is brought to life by street artist troupes and contemporary circus performers who animate the village's various streets. Among the most applauded acts is the Joculares group, featuring juggling, clowning, balancing acts, comedy magic, aerial dance on suspended hoops, and tightrope walking. Fire shows are a staple, creating a captivating atmosphere among the village's illuminated squares and alleys.
The festival blends various live performance styles: cabaret, folk and dance music, dance performances, and, late at night, a DJ set that turns one of the main streets into an open-air dance floor. The evening concludes with pyromusical effects and light displays that bid farewell to the audience until the early hours of the morning. There is also a focus on local gastronomy, with tastings and offerings linked to the Terre Normanne region.
For nearly twenty years, the Night of a Thousand Colors has been a major gathering point for Campofiorito and its neighboring towns. The white night format, free and spread throughout the center's streets, makes it an event suitable for all ages, successfully combining the tradition of a Sicilian village festival with the languages of street theater and contemporary circus. For visitors, it is also the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic inland village in the heart of its summer season.
