New Year's Eve between the Baroque charm of Piazza San Giovanni and the seaside of Marina di Ragusa
New Year's Eve in Ragusa is the event through which the municipality welcomes residents and visitors into the new year. The administration has opted for a "widespread" celebration, linking the historic center of the provincial capital to its coastal district, Marina di Ragusa, over two consecutive days. It is one of the most popular public winter events in the Iblean region, designed as a continuous calendar of completely free activities.
The heart of the party beats in Piazza San Giovanni, in front of the cathedral, where the evening program for December 31st is concentrated. Here, visitors can enjoy guided tours exploring Ragusa's UNESCO-listed Baroque architecture, a children's playground, and a long musical evening led by DJs who keep the square lively until the midnight countdown. The square becomes a meeting point for families, young people, and tourists who choose Ragusa for their New Year's dinner and outdoor celebrations.
The celebration doesn't end with the toast: on January 1st, the baton passes to Marina di Ragusa, the most popular seaside village in the province. From morning until night, the promenade fills with DJ sets, live music, and street performers, perfect for those wanting to start the new year with a sunny stroll and a sea-view aperitif.
This initiative by the Municipality of Ragusa is part of a broader calendar that lights up squares across the entire province of Ragusa in Sicily on New Year's Eve: from Modica to Comiso, and from Vittoria to Scicli, every town offers its own concerts and DJ sets. In Ragusa, the decision to focus on a free outdoor evening, spanning the Baroque center and the sea of Marina, has become a well-established tradition that attracts thousands of people.
New Year's Eve 2026 in Ragusa took place between December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, with free admission, in a widespread format that united the historic center with the sea. On the evening of December 31, Piazza San Giovanni hosted guided tours, a children's playground, and a long musical evening that concluded with the midnight toast. On January 1, the party moved to Marina di Ragusa, from 11:00 AM until night, with DJ sets, live music, and street performers.
