The Giarratana Porchetta Festival
In the heart of the Iblean Mountains, the small town of Giarratana — located in the province of Ragusa, in southeastern Sicily — celebrates one of its most beloved culinary products every December with the Porchetta Festival. The event brings Piazza Vittorio Veneto to life, right in front of the town hall, transforming the historic center into a large open-air lounge where taste, music, and Christmas tradition blend into an evening to be enjoyed together.
The star of the show: Porchetta
Giarratana has always been renowned for the excellent quality of its meats, the result of a long tradition of butchery and expert hands that guard recipes passed down from generation to generation. During the festival, porchetta is celebrated in all its glory: crispy skin, intense aromas, and authentic flavors welcome visitors to the street food stalls, where local meats are often in such high demand that they sell out even before the end of the evening.
Music and markets
The festival is about more than just food. The evening is accompanied by live concerts and a lively street band that brings rhythm and joy to the village streets. Organized by the Municipality of Giarratana with the patronage of the Sicilian Region, the event combines the promotion of local food and wine excellence with the tourism development of one of the most evocative centers of the Iblei, making it an ideal destination for a winter outing filled with flavors, music, and popular culture.
Porchetta Festival — edition 2026
The Giarratana Porchetta Festival returns every year in December to celebrate the porchetta and quality meats of the Iblean region, featuring live concerts, street bands, and Christmas markets in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. How to get there
Giarratana is located in the Iblean Mountains, in the province of Ragusa. By car, it can be reached via the SP10 and the provincial roads connecting Ragusa, Modica, and Vizzini. The nearest motorway exit is on the SS514 Ragusa-Catania.

The event is held in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the historic center, in front of the town hall.
Admission
Access to the event is free; tastings of porchetta and street food are paid for directly at the stalls.
Tips
As this is an outdoor winter evening event, warm clothing is recommended. For accommodation, there are agritourisms and B&Bs in Giarratana, Ragusa, and Modica.
