Summer truffle and the black summer truffle through the streets of Valtopina
In Valtopina, a small village of about 1,400 inhabitants in the province of Perugia, the truffle is part of its identity: it is estimated that about two hundred truffle hunters live here. Alongside the historic November exhibition market, the town dedicates the festival "Nero d'Estate" to the black summer truffle — the scorzone — scheduled for the end of June, coinciding with the feast of Saint Peter the Apostle.
Through the streets of the historic center, you can visit the vintage market, participate in itinerant tastings featuring truffle, listen to live music, and discover the secrets of truffle hunting. Among the most evocative events is the extraordinary opening of the Embroidery Museum, which houses another artisanal excellence of the area.
Organized by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Valtopina, as part of the activities of the National Association of Truffle Towns, "Nero d'Estate" is a festival that combines gastronomy, tradition, and conviviality, offering visitors a summer taste of the deep bond between Valtopina and its precious mushroom.
Nero d'Estate 2026 enlivens Valtopina from June 28 to 30, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Peter the Apostle. For three days, the village celebrates the black summer truffle (scorzone) with a program spread throughout the alleys of the historic center: vintage market, itinerant tastings, live music, truffle hunting demonstrations, and the extraordinary opening of the Embroidery Museum.
The event takes place over three days in the historic center of Valtopina. The detailed program is distributed by the organizers (Pro Loco Valtopina) and through the channels of Città del Tartufo. Planned activities:

Valtopina is located in the province of Perugia, along the SS 3 Flaminia between Foligno and Nocera Umbra; it also has a train station on the Foligno–Ancona line. The festival takes place in the historic center of the village.
Access to the village and the market is generally free; tastings and any experiences (truffle hunting) may incur a cost or require booking. For information: Pro Loco Valtopina, [email protected].
