The historic national white and black truffle fair of Valtopina
The National Truffle Market Exhibition of Valtopina is one of the oldest and most recognized truffle fairs in Umbria, celebrated for decades in the village in the province of Perugia. Valtopina, a village of about 1,400 inhabitants, has about two hundred truffle hunters: a figure that tells more than any description about the deep bond between the community and its precious mushroom. The national event is organized by the Municipality and the Pro Loco (local tourism board) as part of the National Association of Truffle Towns.
The heart of the fair is the market, with dozens of selected agri-food producers offering white and black truffles, along with typical local products and crafts. The stalls are open for the entire duration of the event, at the village's exhibition area.
Alongside the market, themed dining offers truffle-based dishes, while the program is enriched by cooking shows, conferences on sustainability and the supply chain, exhibitions, truffle hunting excursions, trekking, and performances. An offering that combines product valorization with the discovery of traditional peasant gastronomy and the valley landscape.
The 44th National Truffle Market Exhibition of Valtopina is expected in November 2026, following the tradition of holding the fair on the last weekends of the month. The village's exhibition area will once again host the event dedicated to white and black truffles, featuring selected agri-food producers, typical products, and crafts, accompanied by themed dining, cooking shows, conferences, truffle hunting excursions, and performances.
The precise dates for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organizers (Municipality and Pro Loco of Valtopina) in the months preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published in autumn by the organizers. The usual structure of the event, documented in recent editions, includes:
