Musifescht – Lengmoos Band Festival

The Musifescht in Longomoso, the heart of summer on the Renon

The Musifescht is the summer festival of the Musikkapelle Lengmoos, the brass band from the village of Longomoso (Lengmoos), in the municipality of Renon/Ritten, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). It takes place every year at the Festplatz in Collalbo/Klobenstein, the municipal fairgrounds, and is one of the most beloved events of the summer on the Renon plateau, the famous "Sun Plateau" overlooking the Bolzano basin.

A typical South Tyrolean Volksfest

The event belongs to the great tradition of South Tyrolean Volksfeste, the popular festivals organized by local brass bands. At the heart of it all is the brass music: the Musikkapelle Lengmoos and guest bands perform under the marquee, alternating between marches, polkas, and dance tunes that keep the evenings lively. The atmosphere is the convivial and family-friendly one typical of mountain villages, where the entire community gathers around its band.

The two-day program

The festival takes place over a weekend. Saturday opens in the late afternoon with the Einzug, the band's entrance parade from Collalbo to the Festplatz, followed by musical entertainment and dancing that continues into the evening. Sunday is the highlight: in the morning, the band marches from Longomoso to the fairgrounds, while in the afternoon, the festive parade departs from the Longomoso community center (Vereinshaus). There is also a program designed for children, making the Musifescht a festival suitable for the whole family.

A Renon community event

Organized by the Musikkapelle Lengmoos EO, the Musifescht features free admission and takes place entirely outdoors. It is the ideal opportunity to discover the Renon area—which can be reached in a scenic way via the historic cable car from Bolzano and then the Renon narrow-gauge railway (Rittner Bahn)—and to experience the hospitality and traditions of this corner of South Tyrol firsthand.
