A Christmas market at the foot of the Sciliar
In the municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar (Völs am Schlern), in the province of Bolzano and the heart of the Alpe di Siusi area, the Christkindl wortn Christmas market is one of the most intimate Advent events in Trentino-Alto Adige. The name, in the local dialect, literally means "waiting for the Christ Child": it represents the serene anticipation of the holidays, experienced in the church square of Fiè di Sotto (Völser Kirchplatz), in the shadow of the parish bell tower.
Atmosphere and setting
The square transforms into a cozy and evocative meeting place. A large decorated fir tree stands out against the backdrop of the parish church, while warm lights and rustic wooden huts invite visitors to stroll at a leisurely pace. Those expecting the large city markets of Bolzano or Bressanone will find the exact opposite here: a village market that is contemplative, welcoming, and romantic, prioritizing authenticity over crowds.

The most characteristic and beloved moment is the arrival of the Three Wise Men with real camels, accompanied by the Fiè parish choir: a procession held on Epiphany that symbolically closes the Christmas period, offering a fairytale image at the foot of the Sciliar Dolomites.

The Christkindl wortn takes place throughout December, particularly on weekends and holidays, with themed evenings and musical entertainment. It is an ideal opportunity to combine the magic of the South Tyrolean Advent with a walk through the historic center of Fiè allo Sciliar, immersed in the winter landscape of the Alpe di Siusi.
Christkindl wortn — edition 2026
At the moment, the Fiè allo Sciliar Tourist Association has not yet published the official dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Christkindl wortn. Based on past editions, the Christmas market is held in the church square of Fiè di Sotto (Völser Kirchplatz) throughout December, with musical entertainment on weekends and holidays, and the traditional procession of the Three Wise Men with real camels on Epiphany.
The detailed program and dates will be released by the organizers in the autumn months. Until then, it is not possible to confirm opening hours, days, or the musical line-up for the 2026 edition.
