The Seiser Kirchtag is the traditional patronal festival of Siusi allo Sciliar (Seis am Schlern), a village within the municipality of Castelrotto, in the autonomous province of Bolzano. Located in the heart of South Tyrol at the base of the imposing Sciliar massif, the Kirchtag is one of the oldest and most deeply felt celebrations in the South Tyrolean calendar. Originally established to celebrate the consecration of the church and the local patron saint, it has evolved into a community event that blends faith, music, and conviviality.
A celebration of faith and tradition
The event spans two days, typically in mid-September. The festivities kick off on Saturday in the late afternoon, while Sunday serves as the heart of the celebration. The morning features the Festgottesdienst (solemn Mass), followed by a procession through the village streets. The day continues with a folk festival in the village center (Dorfzentrum), featuring performances by the local brass band, music, dancing, and a welcoming atmosphere for families, residents, and visitors alike.
South Tyrolean gastronomy and mountain charm
True to the tradition of South Tyrolean Kirchtags, local gastronomy takes center stage. Visitors can enjoy traditional farmhouse dishes, festive pastries, beer, and local products served at stalls set up for the occasion. Set against the backdrop of the Sciliar plateau and the Alpe di Siusi, with the UNESCO-listed Dolomites towering in the distance, the festival offers an authentic mountain village experience.
Organized by the Volunteer Fire Department
The Seiser Kirchtag is organized by the Siusi Volunteer Fire Department (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Seis am Schlern), with the support of local associations and the community. Admission to the festival is free, and the event takes place in the village center, which is easily accessible. Parking is available in the village (limited spaces) and in the underground garage near the gas station.

The patronal festival of Siusi allo Sciliar returns on September 12 and 13, 2026, in the village center (Dorfzentrum). On Saturday, the party kicks off at 6:00 PM; on Sunday, starting from 11:00 AM until the evening, the program includes the solemn Mass (Festgottesdienst) and the procession, followed by a concert by the Siusi brass band (Musikkapelle Seis, in the afternoon) and a folk festival with food stalls and local specialties. The event is organized by the Siusi Volunteer Fire Department; admission is free.

How to reach us
Siusi allo Sciliar can be reached from the Bolzano Nord motorway exit (A22) by following the signs for Val Gardena / Alpe di Siusi. The festival takes place in the village center, approximately 150 meters from the roundabout heading towards the center.

Limited parking in the village center; an underground garage is available behind the Esso gas station.
