In the heart of autumn, when the chestnut groves of Ritten turn vibrant shades of red and local cellars tap their new wine, the village of Unterinn celebrates one of South Tyrol's most cherished traditions: the Törggelen. At the Festplatz Unterinn, the Musikkapelle Unterinn, in partnership with the local volunteer fire brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr), organizes the "Konzert mit Törggelespezialitäten," a festive day where traditional brass music meets the authentic flavors of the season.

Music, chestnuts, and new wine

The event follows the genuine spirit of South Tyrolean village festivals: guests enjoy roasted chestnuts (Kastanien), sip on new wine known locally as Nuier, and sample sweet krapfen and grilled dishes, while the band and youth ensembles take turns on stage throughout the day. It is an event designed for families and anyone looking to experience the honest, rustic atmosphere of the plateau overlooking Bolzano.

The Musikkapelle Unterinn

Founded in 1804, the Musikkapelle Unterinn is one of the oldest brass bands in South Tyrol. Today, it boasts around 44 active musicians and remains deeply rooted in the life of the Unterinn community. Beyond the autumn Törggelen festival, its calendar includes the spring concert (Frühjahrskonzert) and the Brass Pyramide music festival, which has gained recognition far beyond the province. The festival is held at the Festplatz, the village's main event square, easily accessible via the Ritten cable car from Bolzano.
